Having replaced the 3vd gears with a 2001 i'm wondering if i should change the rear sprocket !!

3vd standard size is 16/44 and 2001 4tx 16/43 so it's only a difference of one tooth which wont make a whole lot of difference in the short term but i've found on both the mk1 and mk2 the standard gearing is just about right.

Dabbs you are probs aware of this already but just in case others are not if the 4TX has the same size front sprocket and one tooth less on the rear that will just mean if fitted to your bike it will just accelerate a little slower and will go a little faster in top at max revs but as you say one tooth will be hardly noticeable, especially if your not interested in wheelyin' off the line or head down behind the screen in top

<p> Now Sold 😔......850 MK2A 4TX6 in Silver, Stainless steel hand rolled slip on end can, stainless 2into1 headers, K&N air filter, Hagon progressive front springs, Gdogg modified rear shock, Else Made "Ridgeback" Gel Seat, Gdogg under seat fender extender, Powrspark leads, Carbon fiber effect vinyl wrap fairing decals & logos, Michelin Pilot Road2's, V-Strom hand guards, Givi monorack & box (colour matched side rails).

Yep Gdogg am's aware, not arsed about top end speed, wont be riding at 100+mph but in effect i'll have the opposite slightly keeping the 44 rear sprocket, might just wait until i've tried it on this 3vd sprocket, wheelies here we come :)

Oh i like that :good:

You'll need a 45-46 tooth jobbie for that tiger :rotflmmfao: -  bigger rear sprocket and it'll accelerate harder making it easier to wheelie, check out the size of a rear sprocket on a motocross / enduro / trials bike !!

What type of steering head bearings do you have fitted ? Balls and cones or taper roller ?

I ask only because wheelies tend to notch the ball and cone type if lots of wheelie type hooliganism  um over enthusiastic throttle fun is had.

From memory, the 2001 Mk2 model had totally different internal gear ratios and possibly primary drive ratios to the earler 3VD and 4TX
