Hi madmopedracer!

Due to the translation, I did not quite understand the relation: how many miles x how many liters. :sorry:

Did you check the oil level? Depending on the pump (pressure ??), height of the buoys and condition of the sealing of the needles of the buoys, the excess may have gone into the engine oil. I find it difficult, because you talk about long journey, therefore greater engine rotation.
However it is worth checking, by removing the top cover of the oil compartment and sniffing.

If smell gasoline; Bingo.

But, no smell of gas .... :hide:

Cheers!

You could check out the emulsion tubes for wear, poor mileage is a well known side effect of worn ones....

i have some time off work at the end of the month so will have time to check it out.

this has been a sudden change in fuel consumption not a gradual decrease

usually i get about 55mpg now around 35 to 40 mpg

Apart from a leak dont know what else except emulsion tubes could cause it, doubt the pump is at fault though, should either work or not !!

100 miles a tank or to reserve tap switchover ? Tap or tap filter blockage causing switchover too early ? Just a thought....

Is it possible you got yer calcs wrong ?  Maybe thought you'd filled it but hadn't, or summat similar.

I know a faulty coil can increase consumption, as can a damp HT lead.

to reserve

it may be coincidence that it has only come to notice since changing the pump

The other possibility may be stuck choke plungers - if so, they would show symptoms of fat mixture: a) Easy cold start with no choke and b) poor running when hot / black deposits in exhaust outlet tube / maybe some black smoke

Choke sticking or the bike overfueling can often be picked up with someone following behind, as well as black deposits on spark plugs, etc.

100 miles before going to reserve had to top it up 4 times on trip to penrith and back

will look at all the suggestions when I next get a chance to look at it
