At first, you guys, thanks for all the information on this wonderful TDM-site :good:

Yesterday I managed to extract the infamous collar. I couldn't have pulled this off without your help.

The bush/collar doesn't look to bad and the needle bearing was still pretty wet with oil or grease, not certain what is is.

Checking the play in the bearing. In the direction of the green arrow: no play al all.

At the end at the shock attachment, just 1mm (3/64 or 0,04 of an inch) play in the direction of the red arrow.

What do you suggest? Is this acceptable play? The seals still fit pretty firm around the bush, so with the grease still in, no water in the bearing so far.

Some tiny marks of the needles on the bush are visible. But no dent is measurable with a micrometer (<0,01mm)

Just grease everything and put it back or renew the collar and bearing?

Think i would personally replace that bush Peter, looks past it's best to me, in my experience any minimal play was taken up after everything was put back together and the rear wheel on.

I remembered, I had a new bush for the connection with the dogbones laying somewhere.
Used that to check what a new bush would mean. It turns out the amount of play is definitely caused by the bearing and almost not by the bush.

So, just ordered 2 new needle bearings from boltonbearings. Hope they will do the job :unsure2:
