I have a 1997 very low mileage TDM 850 4TX2

I need to change the oil and filter shortly and also want to somehow install an oil pressure switch and gauge to it

Has anyone done this previously and if so could you give me a few pointers please?

the hardest part is fitting the oil light in the cluster and making it look oem.

Sorry to be dim, but what's the purpose of monitoring the oil pressure?
I know little about mechanical side of bikes, want to know. Thanks

That's convenient with oil-thirsty tdm :) thanks! And what the switch do? Turns the gauge on/off?

a.f.a.I.k ‘switch’ is what takes the reading (measures the oil pressure in the engine)..... and communicates a value ( lbs. of pressure )
which shows on the gauge .......

or

(as in the splendid ‘Henty Kit’) lights up a red indicator light when the ignition is switched on and oil pressure is low - which should go off once the engine is turning over at speeds above tickover......if it doesn’t go off.......you have low oil level / a problem

jiff.

.......Oh! , and with all those rotating / reciprocating parts moving / bashing against each other inside the engine, lubricating the surfaces ‘smoothes the path and the interface’ and minimises wear and tear.....and damage

low pressure = insufficient lubrication
