Just a few photos from a weekend trip to the Mull of Kintyre. Good company, spectacular scenery and brilliant roads. There's not much more to be said!

Home for a couple of nights, The Anchor Inn at Garelochhead. Clean, comfy rooms, super helpful dripping-wet-biker friendly staff and good food. Highly recommended! :good:

Even after a night in the laundry our gear was still damp so some morning sunshine did a great job of finishing off the drying out.

I had a room with a view. In fact, due to a booking error, I had an apartment with a view! :D

Just down the Loch is Faslane, the home of our Trident nuclear deterrent. Not that you can tell from here, what with...

...Crocosmia still in bloom and...

...Eider Duck serenading me to sleep.

In fact, there was lots of birdlife feeding along the Loch edge. Line up L to R - Jackdaws, Heron, Curlew, Herring Gull and Crows.

But the day was for riding and only a few photo's were taken.

...and fauna.

29660362515_446934768f_b.jpg
And then back up the other side of the peninsula on the B842.

29033844104_eea3caff1d_b.jpg
Great views over to Arran.

And with that it was back home to the Anchor Inn.

Of course, the TDM performed faultlessly returning 65mpg as usual.

TTFN :)

Super photos Jim, I bet it was a blast. I know The Anchor Inn well but never stayed the night. If you are really lucky you can get a good look at a sub if there are any in. I think the top end of Loch Long still has bits of the torpedo range still visible that you can see when you drive passed. Would love to go up on me bike, I have always had to take the family in the car.

There are some brilliant shanty buildings between the road and the shore, tucked away in the rocks. What a fantastic place to live. Well, when the weather's good at least!

Yes, the torpedo range buildings are still at the top of Loch Long near Arrochar. The other guys I was riding with are from over your way (well, they're Mackem's, but it's still quite near ;) ). You owe it to yourself to get up there on your bike. You know how good the roads and scenery are - all the better from the saddle of a TDM. In the 30 odd miles south of Tarbert on the A83 we didn't see another vehicle. Just brilliant!
