I was praising these boots when I bought , ie nice and comfy fit , but they are effing useless at keeping out the water , when I got to my work this morning I had to put my socks on the radiator to dry and on the way home I had to put plastic sleeves on my feet before I put the boots back on , I suppose its a true saying " you get what you pay for " so who makes the best water proof boots

It is still possible to get Derri boots for under £20 and these are waterproof (until they split) and are, ahem, more stylish than the good ole Dunlop wellies.

..........not that this is any sort of poll....
But here's a big-up for Sidi.....in my case the Laguna - more gentlemanly, less racy than Black Rain...
had 'em four years, never let in a drop!
Very comfortable, could walk around all day, if I wasn't happily riding the bike........
Only one complaint.........the soles, though retaining the original tread, are not grippy enough....
Admittedly, I am vertically challenged, thus often on tippy toe , or worried about my security in the event that I'm going to be so.
Not just my neurosis.....pulled up at a junction a month or two ago.......unobserved diesel(?) slick......tyres gripped fine,
Tippy toes not.......down we went.....
Man in Derbyshire may be able to apply climbing boot soles.........grip?

Altberg...excellent gear. 100K+ and only been cleaned twice
Aldi's neoprene socks (intended for fishermen) are great as long as you dont walk any distance in them, or mind sweaty trenchfoot

I believe they've stopped doing refurbs as people were taking the piss and wanted an essentially brand new boot for refurb price. My Altberg have never let in water and now 15 years old and need resoling again, which the company does.
My Mrs got a pair of Sealskinz socks for running in bad weather a while back and reckons they did a good job of keeping her feet dry after a couple of hours of running through mud and puddles. Bitch to wash though they come out of the washing machine nice and clean on the outside but full of crud on the inside

Best check that out cos I hear they don't anymore - I heard it while I was in the factory/shop with a pal who wanted his refurbished - this of course may be due to him having to have one sole built-up by 40 odd mm.

Used to have a pair of Sidi Blacks which were 100% waterproof and comfy. Then changed them 3 years ago for a newer design pair and the left boot leaked from the start. And not so confy. Returned them and got a new pair only to discover that the left boot leaked from the start. I kept them for the summer.
I then got a pair of Daytona Torons. Never touched the Sidis again. Totally waterproof, even in 9 hours of driving in pouring rain this summer ( Yes, there was rain this summer. We found it in Switzerland). And much more comfortable than the Sidis. But then everybody's feet are different.
Again, you get what you pay for.
