Just wandering can you fit hand guards to a Mk1 TDM and if so which are recommended to deflect the wind off the hands more. Reason being my old Transalp had them and it was great in winter since you got lesss wind-chill on your hand on the cold mornings. .

Sure you can Grendel, some may require tapping the bar ends to fit or a little adaptation.

.....bought cheap handguards off e-bay (to fit on a mk2 - see pic)

.....described fitting process with a series of posts under the thread ‘Hand Guards’ (06 March 2016)
(posts 28,30,34,36,37,39,41,)

.....challenging enough to be interesting, but not stressful.....details would vary depending on which guards you get

Worth doing....

I have both the Super Tenere handguards and the cheapos from China.  The cheap ones do block a bit more wind, but I am back to the Super Tenere guards as they look much better and perform nearly as well.  The mounts aren't as cumbersome either.

Be fine if it's just to keep your hands a bit warmer, i liked the BMW guards i had on my 9r as they were very robust and prevented damage a few times after dropping sliding the bike.

I think the BMW guards are the best ones myself - you need the ones from the 1150 GS though, not the 1200

Well yep that's the downside unless you can find used, prolly save more than a £100 in repairs though, mk1 plastics are hard to come by now.

Having said that i have a pair of DL guards to put on mine :D but they were free.

Bmw guards used to be cheap!!! I guess the enthusiasm for that look has made the market go a bit bonkers!!
