Wrong end of the country Chris. I'm North West. Am I out of touch ? The guy isn't claiming it's pristine at 5k ? I expected 4-5k for mint ....might start a wanted thread instead of hijacking this one..

Prices for all the old 2 strokes have gone bonkers... it wasnt too long ago, that 5k would have got you an absolute minter. I saw a pair of mint original silencers go for £2k

Chris I think you mean old Japanese 2 strokes, you can still buy Bantams or Francis Barnetts for peanuts.

I can't quite understand why the prices have shot up so quickly. Kawasaki triples were always ludicrously overpriced for what was a fairly crude bit of kit (IMHO), rapidly followed by RD series Yamahas which were at least pretty competent (I had a sprinterised RD250B which ran high 13s so they were tunable). The Suzuki range was largely overlooked until a couple of years ago and now everyone wants a triple or a GT500.

This mint RD400F sold for 10k
But it was mint, and had many Nos parts on it....
The 400f for some strange reason, commands more money.
The 250’s tend to be a bit cheaper..

i have been looking at some of the bikes from my youth rs100 rd200 dt175 etc going for silly money i could buy a fireblade for the prices and they weren't minters either

other bike which we would only use as field bikes future classic my bum

and the bikes from 70s looking for real money were only worth a can of petrol (worth more than the bike now ) and a lighted match

they were shite then and not in a nostalgic way and they are worse now

xs250 z200 and a flock of others
