speedcameras = money makers
there are collisions in traffic jams ffs ... what are they traveling at ? 10kmh?

in belgium the reason stated government for lowered speed limits was:
to reduce polution ...
loada bollox

lower speed, lower gear, same revs : just takes you longer = more polution
and you have to slow down and speed up again every few hundred meters coz of the traffic lights/speedbumps/speedtraps/potholes

Depends on the siting of the camera - but even in the case of weel-sited ones it often simply moves the speeding problem elsewhere.

As far as lower speed reducing pollution - I marshalled at a charity ride-out at the weekend (on the TRX cos I still ain't changed the r/w bearing on the TDM) and on one sedate leg I calculate I got 59mpg. blink.gif
Haven't calculated what I got on the way home, but it won't be that rotflmmfao.gif
Doesn't fuel consumption increase with speed rather than simply engine revs because drag increase with the square of the speed? Or the son of the squaw on the hippopotamus hide or something.?

Up to a point I'd say no:-

All the best mpg figures what used to be quoted in (car) brochures were obtained at a steady 56 mph, not in an urban environment. However, dunno if anyone's tested a constant 30 mph for mpg...

Diff.
It isn't how fast you ride, It's how you ride fast..
