lower speed, lower gear, same revs : just takes you longer = more polution
and you have to slow down and speed up again every few hundred meters coz of the traffic lights/speedbumps/speedtraps/potholes

Depends on the siting of the camera - but even in the case of weel-sited ones it often simply moves the speeding problem elsewhere.
As far as lower speed reducing pollution - I marshalled at a charity ride-out at the weekend (on the TRX cos I still ain't changed the r/w bearing on the TDM) and on one sedate leg I calculate I got 59mpg.
Haven't calculated what I got on the way home, but it won't be that
Doesn't fuel consumption increase with speed rather than simply engine revs because drag increase with the square of the speed? Or the son of the squaw on the hippopotamus hide or something.?
