quality isn't the best either. Had a look at a 961 headstock bearing once with knocking in the steering. Turned out the bearing seats were out of round and not parallel top to bottom, causing really odd wear to one side of bottom bearing.
Master engineer said it was weld distortion and tube should have been machined after welding. We didn't take the job on either.

To be honest if I had the amount of "disposable income" Norton are asking for one of their machines I would not give it to them, far better bikes available on the market in that price bracket and not necessarily "Retro British" either and I'm sure I'm not the only one, they are a bit "one trick pony" IMHO and they are not expanding the range any where near enough to meet the (minted) riding public's fickle choices. There vented my spleen !!!

that is a fair comment though.

Perhaps the Chinese will pick up the scraps and make a go of it.
Hope not. Be another great name gone to the dogs, not that it isn't going that way anyway.
Still getting more Chinese stuff flooding the motor trade. 90% of it is crap, ball joints that won't make it through the year for example. The buyers keep buying it so the factors keep selling it to us.
And the Chinese economy gets bigger and bigger along with their pollutants.
Hopefully some brit manufacturer's will get something going again.

One of my friends had paid a £750 deposit on a new 650. He doesn't expect to receive either the bike or the deposit back.

Aston was bailed out by Stroll, the guy who owns Racing Point F1 (formerly Force India). Expect to see Aston Martin on their cars soon.
Norton appear to be blaming the UK government re delays on tax credits.
