Too late if it's all booked but in future just go and start looking for digs around 17:00hrs. You're then tied to nothing. See a road - take it. Big if in Spain this time of year but if the weather turns queer you'll be stuck with it instead of heading elsewhere. I've never pre booked digs and I've never come unstuck any time of year. Had to head to the next town occasionally but that's why I start looking late afternoon. Hth

When doing Spain/Portugal/France - book the first night/2 nights in advance - then Trivago/Booking.com is your friend - book the next night using the wifi in your digs over a nice meal & a beer.

Nice to keep things flexible - but nice to know you've got a place to kip at night when you set off in the morning - gives you a daily target  - which you can adjust on a daily basis to suit your progress/condition of your derriere too  :good:

Be aware most restaurants, hotels dont begin serving the evening meal until late, around 9ish generally, lunch in Northern Spain is cheap and large, make the most of it and keep the hunger away, unless of course your used to eating late.

1st trip abroad, huge grin factor, have a great time and be safe.

i met some mates from the uk last year at santander. we just went valladolid all the way to pretty much barcelona staying above madrid criss-crossing and staying in small hotels. stayed away from motorways. it was awesome. so awesome we're doing it again next year. we separated at lleida. they went back to santander to the ferry, i went south back home. the only thing to bear in mind this time of the year is its coming up to holiday season (august) and accomodation will fill quickly towards the end of the month. and the heat. at the moment there's red alert in a lot of places due to heat.  put it this way,  i can wheelspin in second and do rossi slides coming out of some mini-roundabouts with the slippery super heated asphalt :)  always bring water and hydrate at every fuel stop. one of our lot nearly passed out with de-hydration, and it was april!  above all, HAVE FUN!

If you're in that area again take the N260 Jaca to Puigcerda. Outside of July/August. Too many cars..
