I have been looking at Oginbini front sprockets on EBay. Do they do what they say, and if so are they worth buying?

Don't the Ognibene sprockets just come with the damping ring that the OE front sprocket comes with.

If I'm honest I've not noticed the difference between a solid sprocket and the OE with the damper...

When I replaced the original rubber damped sprocket with a JT I instantly noticed the noise from the chain

JT sprockets are basic low cost thin sprockets and not worth searching for imho.

On the mk1, there have been a few occasions where JT front sprockets have damaged/worn the output shaft splines due to a poor fit.

Thanks for that I will have to look as I think that's what is on mine. If so would it be worth investing in an Obinginee, Orbieeny, OBoingy, Ognibene one?

I can't speak for Ognibene sprockets but I can speak with some experience about Ognibene chains - and my experience wasn't good!

I've just written a piece about them in my blog..   https://adventurerid....wordpress.com/

The jt sprocket problem is only with the mk1 so yours should be fine.  I wouldn't buy a jt one if I was after a new one as there are better quality sprockets like Afam, oem, etc.

I've fitted JT chains / Sprockets to my last 4 bikes and had no issues whatsoever.
I can't speak for the fitment on the tdm as yet but the quality etc of the ones I've had, have been top notch

How much does a pair of OEM sprockets cost? (9er) Is there much dufference in an OEM chain/sprockets kit than DID/JT of ebay?

I had a tight link recenty but got it freed up ok, at 26K though I'll have to get around to changing the chain/sprockets when I get time.

JT sprocks have a very very poor spline cut for mk1. Put one up against an OEM or afam and it should become clear. There are pics and writeup on ear somewhere.

I def wouldn't put em on me mk1.

The Yamaha oem chain is actually a DID chain   (D.I.D.525HV-118LE) and it's £154 +vat from fowlers.

Yamaha oem C&S kit would prolly be cheaper than buying seperately though.
