I'm going to look at a 97 bike. Is there anyway to check if it is a 97 and not a 96. Do the engine numbers help. I did see the 97 has a few changes but this is the first TDM I am looking at so am a complete newb
1996, 1997, 1998 are all the same and have twin odd shaped headlamps, these are 4TX models. The original TDM 850 came out in 1991 and has twin round headloights, it was in production till 1995 but there are some that were late registered, these are 3VD models.
ps. ring me if ya get stuck, 07946 606093 Ken

Ok cheers. Like I say I am a complete newb
it'll prolly be yella and silver or sort of silvery and black. Ask the owner about service history and the method they use to check d'oil level, does it use much oil etc? if they loike cake and tea then it may be a careful owner and a good buy.

Well I bought it. More details to follow as I'm off to a bike event now. But after a short test ride I love it. Gearbox is a bit clunky. But I am used to a BMW box so I'm sure I'll get used to that
