Thought I'd throw up some photos of the mk2a carbs (BDSR38's) internals as one or two peeps were/are curious to know how they differ from mk1 and mk2 wans.

I guess, in a nutshell, they're virtually totally different carbs ! And they seem to be made to last a lot longer as most of the plaggy bits are now brassy bits smile.gif

Even the choke plungers are brass......oooooooh !

They're deffo a much better quality carb, even if the toobs are kinda permanent. rolleyes.gif

Hi Lew, errr no they don't go through the slides. In the 3rd photo you can see the end of the toob, rest of toob is buried inside the carb somehow.......entoobed fer all eternity.

Your carbs are different to these, just in case you were panickin' smile.gif

these carbs can be fitted to MKI's and the earlier MKII's (1996-1998) just incase anyone wondered, ya moight hafta change the airbox to carb rubbers too though. I remember a dude fitted some to a MKI a couple of years back.

spyball alarm/immob, bluespot brake calipers and Stainless hoses, Fournales air adjustable shock with Remote Resevoir, forks raised 10mm thru yokes, racetech linear fork springs in 15 wt oil, Kappa wingrack/luggage, heated grips, Kedo handguards, dual heat controller to power heated jacket liner and or pants!!, Stebel 136DB horn, K&N air filter, colour matched Baglux tank cover (magnetic tank bag modified to fit cover), osram +50% headloight bulbs, headlight protector,"NitramSpecial" parking loight, tail light indicators all running on LED's & incorporate "Lite Buddies", MK7 Scottoiler fitted, taller screen, 2-2 stainless steel CCC's, Devil stainless down pipes. MKI Renntec engine crash bars & sump guard.
engine changed july 2007 on a dyno run it made 79.1BHP / Torque 59.9Had a brief flirtation with a 1999 MKIIa but it blew an exaust valve on the M5 so was sold on to be repaired.

I loike tay and hang sangwiches !

Probably Cliff unsure.gif Might leave some of the fettlin' fer the fettle day eh !

Obviously, if someone else were doing the fettlin' for me.......cough cough tongue.gif

Onee kiddin' mate ! I'm still on shedmule....just.

Wicky, if I'd known about these carbs and what's inside 'em, when I ad me mk1 wan, I'd a fitted 'em also.

I did a visual check on the toobs and they look perfectly round after 34,000 miles smile.gif

Yeah, you'd need to swap out the airbox rubbydubbys if you were to fit 'em to any other 8fiddly. You could also modify the cooling system and take advantage of the carbs heating plumbing arrangement.

i gnu there was no TPS but assumed they had coolant diverted thru de carb bodies to warm dem up !! aint broke don't fix it.

I thought he Mk2a had TPS? The 2001 manual explains how to check and reset it.
I will soon find out, my Mk2a seems to have developed a nearly permanent carb-icing-like problem at low/mid revs (not electrical, leads/plus/coils are all new) so I either suspect the TPS is playing up, something is leaking or blocked, or a bird has built its nest in the air-box. MPG is still excellent, so no worn tubes. Compression is fine too, performance is still very impressive. It's done 71k miles now, apart from this and the clutch having run out of adjustment (not slipping though) it seems pretty healthy. I should probably move on to something fresher but it's become like an old pet: You know the end is inevitably near but throwing it out before it's really dead simply isn't an option laugh.gif

Hi Every one, I have these carbatooters on my 2000 TDM, does any one have any information on how to check the float heights, as I cannot find any marks on the float bowls, anything on the internet is for the earlier TDM's thanks.
