I've heard that Nitron shocks are very good, and probably better than Hagon, but are the 55% better?

Basically, I am toying with the idea of investing in a few parts for both my Transalp and TDM.

Shocks, fork springs and some re-wiring may be part of that.  However, one shock is already expensive and so two is pretty daunting.

 

So if I was able to be pretty lively on either of my bikes running original shocks am I losing out by not getting Nitrons or Wilbers for 55-70% more money than a Hagon or YSS?

TDM use is Sunday hooning, and summer touring (two up).
Transalp use may be a bit of the same, but also thinking of exploring forest trails with it and perhaps some overlanding trips, perhaps down to Spain and around North Africa.  Also two-up!

M Shock gets my vote only had it fitted for about a year very good £350 factory set to your riding style and cake consumption

YSS been on my bike for 4 years  all year round riding no rust still looking good and works great

Hagon on mine for 3 or 4 years now works fine I am always solo on it dont go too fast soaks up pot holes nice and smoothly but have never compared to any thing else,so all I can say is happy with Hagon still look shiney.

Why do you say that? Not a trick question, just curious what it is about their shock that would make you think "extra £100+ is worth it!"

 

Hagon, YSS and M-Shock seem well liked, albeit only one owner of each!

I've tried Nitron on my Mk1 and Wilbers on a 9er and a 96 CB500. The Nitron is firmer than the Wilbers, it also took a few kms to loosen up. Got better after a tankful of riding.

May be different ordering specs to some extent, but I suspect Nitron is more oriented on sporty type riding.

The CB500 had Hagons installed and they were horrible.

M shock for me currently, just fine, also had Hagon in the past, also fine and a Wilbers on the 9r which included remote preload which was also great, take ya pic i'm sure any will do the job..

Thanks all. Seems most if not all will be an improvement on the stock part especially as the 9er is 17 and the TA is a ripe 26!

As much as Id like a truly top level shock, probably YSS, M-shock or Hagon.

I use it on my KTM 690 Duke. The Sachs unit is actually ok but if chopping quickly in a chicane scenario, the Wilbers keeps the bike more stable

I notice that M-Shock show TDM900 shocks fitment from 02 - 07 are later model 900s different?
