Harvey,
There is a mistake in your thinking. Once on the 700 Tenere, not a T7, which is an absolute beast, you will be doing anything but slowing down. It corners faster than the TDM, goes everywhere the TDM can and can not, inspires so much confidence off road that you will always overestimate your ability and go faster than you should. If you really want to slow down with a trallie get an Enfield Himalaya. Not a bad bike.
By the way, a long road travel bike the Ten is not. I much prefer the old TDM as a mile muncher. No competition.

It's good to read a comparison from a TDM rider.

 

We are in lock down so no chance of getting a test ride. To make matters worse their are very few T(enere)7's for sale in the country. Big issue with supply.

 

I will continue to twiddle my thumbs.

Same here - hardly any bikes left. I had to buy my Tracer without having a test ride, demo bikes were sold. No 20/21 models for sale, either. Supply problems or underestimation of popularity? I didn't get a good answer.

Same here. I've been told anecdotally that Yamaha had a lot of stock on Ever Given but also told that Yammies for NZ are sat on a wharf in Italy somewhere. I called one dealer and asked about the bike, I heard the whole office burst out laughing.

 

US Tenere buyers are pulling their hair out trying to get one.

 

I guess a combination of limited production jn Japan and France, logistics and high demand.

I still absolutely love my Tracer 700 which I've now had for 3 years and still rate it in every respect other than comfort, more than made up for by the brilliant engine. I've just sold my 1972 Suzuki T350 Rebel and with some of the profits bought an Enfield Interceptor which is a really nice bike too.

had loads of great feedback for the interceptor, roads are getting too regulated and 50hp is now more than enough now.
there's a few youtube vids on upgrading the bike

Ooh that's a nice looking bike, that Interceptor, you can get a hotter cam for it to unleash more torque.
2002 900 silver,oil pressure switch with brass 90 degree conversion, RG fork protectors. Wilburs custom made rear Shock with remote hydraulic preload and RG shocktube, Wilburs front springs. Scotoiler with a custom made swing arm delivery unit. spyball alarm/immob, bluespot brake calipers and Stainless hoses, Fournales air adjustable shock with Remote Resevoir, forks raised 10mm thru yokes, racetech linear fork springs in 15 wt oil, Kappa wingrack/luggage, heated grips, Kedo handguards, dual heat controller to power heated jacket liner and or pants!!, Stebel 136DB horn, K&N air filter, colour matched Baglux tank cover (magnetic tank bag modified to fit cover), osram +50% headloight bulbs, headlight protector,"NitramSpecial" parking loight, tail light indicators all running on LED's & incorporate "Lite Buddies", MK7 Scottoiler fitted, taller screen, 2-2 stainless steel CCC's, Devil stainless down pipes. MKI Renntec engine crash bars & sump guard.
engine changed july 2007 on a dyno run it made 79.1BHP / Torque 59.9Had a brief flirtation with a 1999 MKIIa but it blew an exaust valve on the M5 so was sold on to be repaired.

I loike tay and hang sangwiches !

You remember rightly Wick, and I liked it a lot, but in truth the Tracer 900 wasn't close enough to the TDM concept. The 700 twin was much closer in feel though not as comfy as a TDM900 and suits me better. With regard to the Interceptor, Drewpy is absolutely right, 50 bhp is probably enough on our crowded UK roads nowadays provided you're not doing long motorway journeys.
