Here are a few of our pictures from the trip

This wehere we visiting TDM Brits stayed:

This was first house liberated by the Brits oin D-Day:

This rather ostentatious collection of houses was buitl to keep the Brits oot!... how time marches on

The link to the full slide show is here:

I would heartily and without hesitation recommend the digs which were found and trialled by Ali last year

http://www.mototaranis.com/

A fanatstic weekend, unbeatable accommodation, food and drink, some great roads, brilliant company, sidebursting jokes and we even had good weather.

Pete

p.s. hope Ali gets his bike fixed quickly and, as always, it sounds like there is some good advice and assistance appearing here already - well done lads!

Keep music live!

I'll only echo what's been said; thanks to AliG for organising a great trip, gutted that his bike stopped so close to the end - hope all goes well getting it fixed up, I had a great time and thanks to everyone for making it such fun. Really can't help but recommend Moto Taranis; Ken and Lesley helped make the weekend what it was and deserve further visits on the back of this one... although they may need to take out better medical insurance before!

1129.5 miles, 1 litre of oil, countless laughs, amazing weather, stunning scenery and great roads.

Looking forward to the next jaunt!

(I did realise today that myself and Steve on the Triumph were in our own room while the 900 riders paired up pretty swiftly on arrival... giveusahug.gif plod.gif giveusahug.gif )

We're all going to die, so let's be nice.

Just rolled in a little while ago. The French Yam dealer thought it was the regulator but as they close for a 2 hour lunch 12 - 2, I went to the local shopping centre to kill the time. When I got back, the english-speaking mechanic told me that it wasn't the regulator but the alternator and of course, they didn't have one. They had left the battery on charge and we gave it another hour before I went down to the ferry. They only charged me Euro 29, which was a pleasant surprise. I unplugged my headlight to save some juice, but as I expected, I didn't make it home. She died on the M3 and I got recovered the rest of the way home. Will sort out the alternator at the weekend.
I can heartily recommend Europ Assist. I paid £49 for a year's cover which covers UK and Europe. They had a french-speaking operator and when it was clear that I had missed the ferry and it couldn't be fixed on Monday, they booked a hotel and sent a taxi to take me there. The decision on Tuesday was to take the bike to the Yam dealer in Le Havre so that worse case scenario, they'd get me to the port and recover me from Portsmouth. Great service. They sent me a text with the details and even phoned the ferry company to tell them that I would miss the ferry and to send me the phone number to rebook for Tuesday. If anyone needs to get cover for Germany, I can speak from experience (and before anyone says that a french-speaking operator will be no use, they do have german speakers too). Let me know and I'll post their details.
Glad everyone had a great time. I might have to think about next year's trip - annual event guys? There are loads of roads north west of the B&B we didn't even get near.

Two of the fuel stations we stopped at have overcharged my card by a total of about £170 (Bank staff fella: "You must have put that much fuel in" Me:"I was on a bike, it'd be a bloody miracle if I did!"). The two are the Carrefour at Ploermel (before going to Porcaro, so AliG, Sagalout, Whichwaywasit, Steve and myself I think) and the last stop before the ferry. I only discovered it when filling up yesterday and my card was refused.

The bank have said that when this happens it's normally resolved automatically in a few days. If not they have to give 30 days before they can chase it up to try and reclaim it.

Check your accounts to see if there's a discrepancy.
We're all going to die, so let's be nice.

Hi all,I got an email from Ken and Lesley, a copy of which is attached. Don't forget to put something in the visitor's book on their website.AliHi AliThanks for the e-mail, sorry that you had a breakdown on the way home but glad that you made it back safely and that everyone had a good time here, please say hello to everyone from us, we had a good weekend too despite Lesley's little accident, it doesn't feel like work when we have such a great group staying, on the Monday i managed to get back in time to see you all coming the other way i waved but not sure if anyone recognised me in our little van. We had to go back to the hospital yesterday to see the consultant and he said she had a very small fracture but it wouldn't need surgery, they have removed the cast and put a splint on instead, she has got to go back to the hospital on the 2nd May so she can't go back to work untill after then, every cloud has a silver lining. We have had a look on the forum some great pictures and comments, thanks to everyone for that, just one thing Ali you didn't put a comment in our visiters book we do have one on our website now if you would like too.Would be good to see everyone again Carpe TDM is more than welcome, hope work isn't too bad just get out on the bike.Take care and ride safeKen & Lesley

Point taken, but this was on a Sunday when the kiosk was closed. The credit card option was the only one available. By the way, most UK cards, including Visa Debit, now work at French garages. Apparently, when chip and pin was upgraded, the problem was resolved.Ali

Did he really ? I used to enjoy listening to his highy informative commentaries, bit like a guided tour of France and Switzerland when he were on Eurosport. Even knew what the best local wine & cheese was for any given location smile.gif
