Saw an article in AMN (21 Aug) there it showed an FJ 09. Basic information but says Yamaha may be looking at making a touring version of the MT 09. No specs but supposed to be officially revealed later this year.

It's one of those things. People come across this story and think, 'they'll be interested in that on Carpe' and post it up. And that's happened a number of times in regards to this bike. I think it should have it's own thread so that people know it's been posted. That'll tickle nob

I've not experience - just a comment a couple of friends have made...
How does it compare to the TDM seat?

It's not that funny really. In fact it's more of a face-palm thing, but I couldn't find a face-palm emoticon. When the same topic has come up time and time again, it gets to be a bit tedious. I've already said that the subject of a TDM replacement has been discussed to death, but people keep posting it back up again. I think the mods ought to have it as a sticky and merge all the threads regarding this or do something, but until they do these threads will keep popping up.
There isn't going to be a TDM replacement AFAIK, that article is just misleading speculation from the US who never got the 9er. The TDM is out of production. It's deceased, a gonna, brown bread. The bike shown is going to be based on an MT09 with an adventure style makeover. Giving it a makeover and even a re-profiled engine will not make it a TDM.

The TDM replacement will be what we deem to be the replacement.
But we're hopeful Yamaha will be the producers.

If not I many persuade myself to look more closely at a ktm
I've got 38k on the clock which is not high for normal trips but will shortly get to the mileage I'd prefer not to trust on a long trip into the back of beyond.

dmmsta's had close 100K miles and we opened her up for a valve check, nothing wrong with it at all. 38k, it's just about run in.

Dear Japan. Could you please send the Mk2 to the U.S.A.? NOPE! How about that neat Trx850...please? NOPE! Surely you'll send us the Tdm900, right? NOPE!
That's ok, I hear we're getting the new Vfr1200, we know it'll be expensive and reliable with a great V-4, could you maybe stay with VFR tradition and not make it butt friggin' ugly? (Suzuki already sent us the Hayabusa) Again NOPE! How about that Honda Crossrunner, It's uglier than the Hayabusa, the beak on the fairing looks like the south end of an octopus headed north and the muffler looks like it was stolen from a semi truck (christ why not just put stacks on it!) but i'm getting desperate? Can we please have that ugly duckling? A hacksaw to the exhaust and octopus' beak and some flat black paint would make it bearable. Still waiting.....
OK then screw it! Since I know we're not getting it, you can take the sweet looking bike with the great engine in the pictures above and send it to Europe and the UK! But you can stick them up ur arse before you send them to us!
Everyone in the rest of the world can thank me later, enjoy the bike!!
