hows this

this gets my vote for a tshirt design, would need to be simplier for a sticker tho

only suggestion is maybe text could be a colour of individual choice to match the bike its going on

wasnt liking the first one
last time i made the tshirt with just text i got the remark of people not knowing what its about
hence i'ld like to see a reference to the bike

the yamaha logo ... tricky ... but gives me an idea

edit:

i'ld like to see that with JUST the vertical fork goig thru it

Dear Mr Yamaha,
one of your products has an owners club (could be called a fan club) and would like to use your company logo to show there appreciation.
do we really need to ask permission to provide free advertising for you?

hmmmm, no offence Mr Warhol Sir, but duh.....

i cant imagine them having a problem with it.
aslong as we arent making a profit out of it or miss using it
its just the same as buying those extra stickers on ebay and putting them on the bike

do we need the full web address, as www.carpe-tdm.net takes us to the old site?

You cant have a "celtic" design on there cos you may find the rangers and hibernian fans will boycott it

It isn't the profit aspect of using it that bothers corporate legal eagles Tony, it's bad press if something goes tits up............a friend of mine who's a Citroen specialist had to take his signs down when Citroen found out he was using their logo.......... huh.gif

Since the one in Emmett's post is clearly Carrotty and involves no tuning forks (I wonder is Yamaha got permission from the inventor of tuning forks) it don't really matter.

its the angle at which the tuning forks are presented that identifies it as the "Yamaha Logo" therefore if you angle them about 1 degree to the left or right then strictly speaking they cannot whinge as its not a yamaha logo

You may also find that Yamaha have the copyright on the letters TDM so you cant use that either

perhaps you could alter it a bit and make it MTD wink.gif

i've printed my designs and must agree the one with the fork going thru looks odd.

concerning http://img245.images...arpelogo3ag.jpg
yeah, ill try with bigger TDM lettering or at least in capitals
keep the comments comming

if this were made into sticker it would be printed on a white background
how about it be printed on reflective material? if possible

nother thing to consider : we want to a TDM LOGO with emphasis on bike and TDM, a logo that can be used thru time.

using the lettering would be to restrictive and very expensive if we need to get new stickers/shirts made every time yamaha changes its lettering design. would also mean we get stuck with leftovers...
and im sure some 850 owners would have mixed feelings about having 900 (or more recent) lettering on their pride and joy.
and i'ld think a more basic lettering is preferrable as TDM 850 or 900 already shows prominently on bike.
my intent was that one carpedian would easely recognise another carpedian bike with the sticker on the windscreen.
which brings me to another point ... which we'll discuss in other post.

I reckon only the 'Y' 'TDM' 'O' and 'C' need to be caps. The size of lettering looks fine to me. Yes its small, but like you say, people will easily recognise the logo and can ready the txt if they are closer.

how about

font: 'TDM Owners Club ' Balloon'
font:'www.carpe-tdm.net' arial

This keeps it simple, no copying of letter style and no mention of Yamaha.

or back to one i drew earlier, with some mods.

but 'TDM' is taken from this site, so no problem there Mr G, unless you ripped off someone else huh.gif

yes, dont need huge text.
not like people will have much time to read it when bike is on the move.

just thinking out loud here :
if we do cutouts with the duo tone designs like this we have 3 options
either just the design cutout a black sheet
or have the design cut out of a white sheet
or have the black cutout stuck onto a white (or other colored) disc meaning the design will be in color of whatever you put it on

i imagine having cut differently colored discs wont be that expensive i imagine and the discs can be sold seperately from the cutout.

coz of the dark windscreen i can see my self picking a reflective, white disc and have the cutout design on there.
---------------------------
sorry daveb,
im looking for a logo, not lettering.

Ah well it back to the old drawing board for me.

The only thing using a refelctive/metallics substrate how will the ink cure onto it. will it fade in sunlight over period of time.

we'll go with your design Mr G.

doh... see i didnt consider that. good.gif
i know the fluorescent ones fade. do the reflectives also fade?
we'll have to inform about the ink fading...

--------
i cut out the one without the fork running thru to see what places it would be fitting.
of course windscreen is most "in yer face"
tip of front mudguard seems the best compromise between visibility and intrusiveness.

another idea
having the design cut out of the white disc meaning the design will be in color of whatever you put it on
(added that to the options in previous post)
