My Transport SA "Tier 3" inspection to re-register an uneconomical to repair written-off vehicle is booked for 8am 'first inspection' next Thursday .......... hopefully no one would have pissed him off by then or maybe I could just suffer from him getting out of the wrong side of the bed syndrome ...... anyway the wallet is $267 lighter, thankyou very much. Can't book the roadworthy inspection (+ another $221) until I've been given the all clear from tier 3 inspectors, then another 2 week wait.

The accident repairs look fantastic, exhaust/dented tank/front fairing, but the inspection horror stories are giving me nightmares. I've replaced all the adventure rider modified parts with originals, but have I overlooked something simple?

One thing that I can't get a definative answer to is: can I present a "road bike" with off road tyres, especially with a lower speed rating and different sizes than manufacturer's specifications plus the aspect of a rear tyre reversed on the front?

Pity to have to purchase new "H" speed rated tyres to push the bike onto and off the trailer, then replace them with my existing fantastic off road combination tyres.

Mmmmmm???........... $267 to test it or $360 for the cheapest (probably useless) new 110/80H18 & 150/70H17 Battlax tyres.

I think I've still got a few sleepless nights ahead.

Oid gofer the road legal tyres. for 2 reasons.

1) You will likely fail with the incorrect tyres
2) They might start asking difficult questions about what tyres you had on when the insurance claim was made.

Hope the ole good.gif is on the mend.

good.gif

Thanks for your replies guys, I think I already knew what I should do, but !!!

Hand is good, just have to watch what I do with it for another month.

Funny thing with the insurance assessor was that he commented how good the tread looked on the tyres. blush.gif then paid out without question.

Better start charging the ol' camera batteries again for when I hit ......... errrr!!! ride the roads again soon .....hopefully.

good.gif

Just doing the final touches to my face-lifted TDM for the Transport SA inspection Thursday a.m. and would you believe it? .............. one of the fairing hairline cracks recently welded and painted, opened up. F#*k! ranting.gif..... F#*k! ranting.gif.... F#*k! ranting.gif

It's not on the accident side of the fairing so maybe everything may be OK.

I'll phone them tomorrow and check. Wish me luck.

Cheers
