Even with the 'code' in place there are many restrictions. For example, it would be possible to camp by the river opposite the bunkhouse but you can bet yer boots that you would be made to move on. You can't camp, for instance, in someone's garden (without their permission) and neither would you be allowed to wild camp close to public water supplies. The code with its access rights is aimed really at people walking and camping in the wilds away from people and human habitation.

Lads,

I have just booked the bunkhouse but couldn't get the weekend of 4th September. Instead we have the weekend of 11th September for two nights departing on Sunday 13th. I have booked twelve bunks in 2x6 bunk rooms. Price is £30 each for the weekend and that includes all linen and towels and the use of the kitchen if you want (but it's a bit small I seem to recall). Have a look here for more info http://www.aviemore-....com/index.html

Eating and drinking in the village of Aviemore is great and can be pretty cheap to boot (except the beer!). Send your cheques for £30 to me made out to Aviemore Bunkhouse - NOT MADE OUT TO ME! PM me for my address. Nearest camping is Dalraddy about 3 miles away or Glenmore about 6 miles away. Remember - first come first served!!

Cheers,

Joe

Hi Joe, I was just wondering,(Plus it boots it back to the top) how are the bunkhouse bookings going?

I trust you received my cheque,

Cheers,

Colin

Good site. good.gif

Anybody camping should bring plenty of high % DEET midge repellent even in September! It won't work but it'll single you out for sympathy at the bar. Ceremonial cremation of your tent as you leave will earn brownie points as a gesture of goodwill.

Are there any spaces left in the bunkhouse Joe? If there are, put me down as a definite.

You're right, DEET doesn't work (it's a mosquito repellant).

A better bet is Avon Skin so Soft. I dunno why it works (other than there must be something in it), but forestry workers have apparently reported good results with it.

Or take up the pipe with good raw shag - and smoke the buggers out.

Last year I broke the record for the most amount of midges in a crash helmet when I rode through a swarm, visor open, at 50 mph in Glen Affric (just up the road from Aviemore.

I didn't have to eat for a week.

Hi Nanook

Anyone who isn't staying at the bunkhouse or camping is welcome to join us for the rideouts

I'm only 50 miles up the road, so I'll likely nip down an' meet the happy campers.

Just got to get the time to get the thing running properly (it backfires like a shotgun), fork seals fixed & mot'd!

Cheers
