Would love to go but it's a long journey all on my lonesome. Trying to drum up support from other TDM riders around the south-east.

Kickstarter - It's not really that far - probably 4hrs with a coupl'a coffee stops. I might be travelling up from Celbridge on the friday morning or I might be in Roscommon from the thursday night...not sure yet - either way danceswithpeds will be travelling from Dublin. It's an easy commute from Carlow up these days and then you have the whole day to get to Westport.

There always be someone to travel with... danceswithmopeds (Paul) will be travelling up from Dublin.. maybe you could meet up with him...I am not sure if Kelpie will be going to the event. She lives in Thomastown

Paddy I PMed Kelpie (and anyone else on the Island I could locate) but she expects to have to work that weekend.

I know the G2G is still a way off but as this is my first I was wondering are there any set ground rules ??? Like is it OK to bring some liquid refreshment to help with the overall costs.. plus it would be nice while sitting around the old camp fire to have a small glass of something warming to help me sleep.. drinks.gif Also does anyone have a pump to blow up my airbed??? ohmy.gif Will there be a BBQ.. as I will need lots of food to keep me going all weekend..

The campsite is nice - i don't think it gets too manic and there are decent showers for no extra cost. The town is a good walk away or maybe we can get a mini-bus in for a few euro - I might be up that way in May so I will scout this out beforehand.
No problem bringing a night-cap - last time I was there was about three years ago and there was no problem lighting a fire. Though it is family oriented so they don't appreciate 4am sing-songs! I can't last that long meself so I'll be asleep be then!

I have an electric air-bed pump with multiple nozzles and a ciggy-lighter on the bike which works a treat so don't worry about that.

I didn't see a BBQ but there is a bar on the site itself. We can get a bag of charcoal easy enough and do it the traditional way if folks fancy.
I reckon most folks don't want to go for 4-course dinners so we can keep it cheap'n'cheerful! I got a group rate of €10/night for the camping which is alright considering the site is really nice.

Paul - don't forget the JUMP-LEADS!!!! blush.gif

Have you ever lent someone 20 quid and never seen it again? It was probably worth it.

Rules are.. there are no rules. What you eat or drink is up to you.

Kickstarter, when are you travelling up, and what route?

It'll probably be Friday afternoon. Thank God for a job that gives half days on Fridays!
According to Google Maps, the quickest way for me is up the M9/M7, across through Straffen to the M4/M6 to Athlone and then through Roscommon and Claremorris, but that's far too many "M"s for me. -I hate motorways! So it'll most likely be Portlaoise - Tullamore - Athlone, and so on.
If I don't arrive, then you'll know my sat-nav has broken down again! Just keep an eye out for a silver 850 rider looking lost anywhere between here and there (or even somewhere else.) tongue.gif
The world is full of willing people, some willing to work, the rest willing to let them.

Is it Carlow town? You could go Abbeyleix, Roscrea, Birr, Loughrea, Oranmore, Ballinrobe
Could prolly meet in Birr if you like. Depends if when I travel suits you.

Just checked that way on Google Maps. Only 8km longer which will make no difference. What time do you think you'll be in Birr?

New battery fitted last week, cheapo alarm dis-connected, major re-wire of all ancillaries- done. Auxiliary fuse box fitted. All extras run through it. Halogen fogs removed, replaced by LEDs.
Jump leads bought, and stored in top box.
Just have to source a tent.
Stove, taken apart, cleaned and tested over winter.
Re-discovered some old camping gear, clean and check over next few weeks.

I'm nearly ready.

Forgot to say, regards to Trev. Did he get his Honda sorted out ?

Dances - Try here for camping gear - mention Carpe-TDM and my name to John CapelCamping
Park on the path outside McQuillans as theres plenty of room. He has a nice enough tent for 39 squid and should knock a few bob off for ye.

Trev is a big wuss - remember he blew his rad on the Cork G2G? Well the bike is STILL not back together - make sure he suffers in June when ye see him! I'll say hello in the meantime.

What LED fogs did you get - I'm still looking fort a suitable pair?

'bout half an hour after I leave home wink.gif

This is seriously long term planning for me, usually I'd decide the day before laugh.gif but if I was aiming to arrive in Westport around 7 I'd be in Birr around 4.30.
Birr is around an hour and a half from Carlow town - how does that suit you?

Even the day before is long term planning for me. tongue.gif I don't know where I'll be working - I don't even know if I'll be working. All I know is, if I'm working, I'll be finishing at 13:00. How long it'll take to get home, etc is completely unknown. So I think we'll leave any more planning until nearer the time. dunno.gif

Alex, I just removed H3 halogens from Fogs. Replaced them with LEDs from Virtual Village.
