It depends what is already in. A quick test (not recommended you repeat it often) , is to dip your finger in, shake off the excess and touch the slightly damp finger to your tongue, If it tastes sweet then it is almost certainly classic IAT, ethylene glycol type, and it will mix with any other IAT type. (spit, don't swallow)

From about 1995 OAT antifreeze was introduce, different technology, and later types are  HOAT.

I think I'm right in saying that in an emergency old fashioned glycol based IAT types can be used in any system  which has been drained and flushed.

Mixing types is a bad idea and can lead to gels forming in the liquid !  Are there any hints in the manual ?

900 with better bits. Owes me nothing, Makes me smile

OK thanks for the info, I was thinking the old glycol type was not the right type for the 900

will see if I can find what the manual says if i can find a reference, if not I will drain and flush it and

put in something more up to date. Cheers bopster

Recommended antifreeze :
High-quality ethylene glycol antifreeze containing corrosion inhibitors for aluminum engines
Mixing ratio 1:1 (antifreeze:water)
Use only distiled water.
Or use any ready-to-use mix containing the above fluids.

Don't taste any antifreeze by yourself.
Instead use your mother-in-law or your dog / cat.
