I have 2011 900 seems to have a whine on gear box still runs ok cruises nicely at 70\80 gear change ok oil clear of any debris and chain adjusted to correct tension is the gear box noise common ? just rode down from Inverness to Newcastle on tyne today and as I say it ran fine its a great bike for comfort

no its its a constant noise through all gears but does not seem to be getting worse did an oil/filter change about 400 mls ago if I pull clutch and free wheel engine running it stops let clutch go and its back!

Did you check that the chain has 50-60mm slack? The TDM chain is way slacker than a lot of other bikes.

Mine sounds like this, actually the whine is more noticeable than in the video
900 with better bits. Owes me nothing, Makes me smile

I don't hear a whine from mine, although I do have ear plugs when ride. What about a wheel bearing? Is the back wheel out of alignment?
