Some of you may (or may not) know that Mrs Trevini was diagnosed with stage 4 Burkitts Lymphoma at the beginning of 2013. The poor old bugger had a bit of a torrid time of things what with the Chemo, a C Diff infection and pancreatitis resulting in her leaving hospital unable to walk any sort of distance and in a wheel chair almost seven months after she went in (apart from a few occasions here and there). We had a couple of very near misses along the way. On admission, she only had a few weeks according to the specialist and having to stop the Chemo due to the C Diff infection was a scary time as she'd only had three rounds out of a probable six. The combination of the C Diff and Pancreatitis almost finished her off too until they'd got a handle on it.
She left hospital in August 2013, went back to work in December 2013 and has continued to hit milestones along the way, her favourite being able to get back on a horse and ride unassisted about this time last year. Many more, perhaps less significant milestones have been and gone since then. Anyway, the point of this post is to highlight the biggest one yet - on Monday, she attended her annual consultation with the specialist to see how things are going and have blood tests ect. The specialist has discharged her from care a year earlier than considered normal, so in a nutshell, the tough old bird beat cancer's arse and is cured. She's also been counselling other patients with Burkitts Lymphoma over the last few years too.
It's been a hell of a journey, some parts more hellish than others, but she never even considered not beating it, even at her lowest point where she couldn't even sit up or hold a glass of water.
All in all, Feckin' awesome I'd say.
