All - thanks for your kind messages.

To quote the professor Warnsowrth off Futurama - Good news everybody!!

The police rang and I've just been to pick up my bike from the dump site. It was about 400 yards away from my house in some bushes. Looks like they wheeled it off and tried to get it going on some open land. They've rifled the ignition barrel and chopped up the ignition loom, presume trying to hot-wire it, failed and dumped it. The steering feels a bit odd when we pushed it back (took 4 of us to get it out of where it was) but I can look at that in slow time. So it's now on my drive with two locks on it.!!

I'm just glad to have it back.

That’s great news! Perhaps the insurance company will help pick up the repair tab, time will tell. Really pleased you got your bike back ‘relatively’ unscathed. :good:

Thanks Jim, It'll be cheaper just to do it myself. £350 excess and about £200 for a used replacement. I'm just over the moon to get it back.

That's great news, hope it's not too dear to get fixed.

When my old XT600 got nicked years ago it took the old bill 10 days to find it, well it was outside the police station in a part trashed state so well hidden.... (there 4 days apparently before it was noticed)

Nothing Favs. They initially said that they would want to do a full forensic on the bike. Then said they didn't want to. That was it.

Thanks. At the moment I've got a disc lock and heavy chain on it and I've taken the front wheel off so it ain't going far!

Good to hear you got it back, never been in that situation but it's always in the back of my mind whenever I leave one of my bikes somewhere out of sight for more than 5 mins...

Yes ago I had an XJ900 knicked from outside my house. Not a nice feeling. Plus the insurance gave me a right grilling to see if it was an inside job. I had to show I still had my spare keys.

Interested in very very old bikes with the ocasional newish one thrown in.
