Alternately use some thin nylon cord tied through the terminals
I hope this helps
Cheers

No change on that point on the 2007+ models, it's just you are better trained after some time...
Not sure you are right on that one?
You just unhook the rubber strap reach down and lift out the battery. No need for hooks, tape and taking off the rear brake cylinder, as what seems to be suggested by all pre-2007 owners.

On my 2002 9er I just unhook the rubber strap and lift out the battery.
No need for any tools.
The rear brake fluid tank is not present on non-ABS models.
The rear brake fluid tank support is the same part (same number, no revision) on all ABS models (2B0).

OK, so why all the concerns and various "tricks" from other 9'er owners??
If it is the same on all 9's there is absolutely no need for any "tricks" or special tools. It is very obvious that you can easily lift it out, so it is very strange that they can't see that?
Anyway, keep riding

If you can remove the battery without using some simple aid then good on you.
I just found that I could not get enough of a handhold on mine.
The original questioner obviously needed something more hence the suggestions.

Apparently, they improved that on the 2007+ models, because my battery just lifts out without any problems.
Just noticed they've moved the rear brake reservoir to a sensible place too, they're a right pain to fill on the old models.

Don't stress too much about this, in 16 years of TDM900 ownership, I removed the battery once when replacing it for a Yuasa, this was 7 years ago !
True, no need to stress
However, I (and probably many others) take the battery out every winter and put it on a maintenance charger.

Well I wouldn't use another Motobat as in the above picture. I had one on my Fazer and it barely made it through a year. Had been looked after like any of my bikes and the terminals failed and leaked acid. Have heard of others having similar experiences. I always go Yuasa now, worth every penny for the length of time you get out of them.

I screw two longer bolts into the terminals and use them as handles. Works for me.....
Riggers.

I only changed my original Yuasa '02 battery last year
I'd still be using it if I hadn't left the bike standing for too long which was purely a fault of mine.
Phenomenal piece of kit, just like the rest of the bike.
