Being thoroughly sick of the mediocre performance of my Scottoiler I decided to Have a go

Using a 12v Windscreen Washer pump, 12v solenoid valve, a tiny PWM & a 12v programmable timer.

There is some info about this in the What have you done to your TDM today thread.

Prototype tested this morning and all is good - I just need a waterproof container for the electronics - oooh hello small Tupperware box.

PWM 1.86 Ebay/Banggood

Pump 5.99 Eurocarparts

Timer 2.44 Banggood

My time = free2me

Solenoid valve from Banggood £3.53

Assembly for testing

And keeping tupperware employees in a job too, genius. :)  I'm guessing it'll deliver the same amount of fluid regardless of viscosity or ambient temps ?

Should do, although reprogramming the system is easy for on/off periods, (or you can alter the pump speed - not the best solution).

Will be testing this extensively, I hope, during my hols.

Fitting system next week.

:P  Mint Jelly version is planned alongside the original curry flavour.

Edit - delivering oil at 1 drop every 5 mins. I'm leaving the pump set at that speed and duration. I'll alter the interval between deliveries if there be a need.

Road testing ASAP, probably nip out for breakfast somewhere if the weather is good.

Oooh far too complex for me JBX. I'm a KISS fan and merely wanted a more reliable delivery system than the Scottoiler fitted. I see where that builder is coming from regarding the rain, but for me, the rain is an additional lubricant (until you let the bike stand  ).

Buying the components was what I'd call cheap, adding some wire and a feed from an existing (additional) relay, was what I'd call easy too.

Longevity/reliability will be the deal maker/breaker for my version .I'll update on this at some point.

I haven't looked too closely at your hardware, but some of those cheap timers have a link ont he board which allows you to feed it pulses from an external source, instead of using the on board oscillator. I was thinking about the possibility of hooking it up to the wheel speed sensor and then you have a distance based oiling system.

I tried a loobman on mine and wasn't impressed.

Out of all that I've tried on varous bikes of the years (Scottoiler, loobman, Tutoro, PDOiler) the PDOiler is by far the best IMO.

I've also been building my own for a bit of a laugh but the project is shelved till winter when I have more time.  I'm using a peristaltic pump and timer circuit which should fit in a package about the size of a fag packet.  Good to see other builds and the outcomes though :)

...could be done by means of a frequency divider + maybe a preamp, but do you dare to hook into the ABS ?  If wires are interchanged, you will disable brake every n rotations  :D
