Nitron Or Wilbers Rear Shock?

were they bought 'off the shelf' or did you specify a shock by providing your body weight, riding style, pillion and luggage etc?

 

A bit different stories; the Nitron was ordered to specs - my weight, no pillion, road use. The specs for the Wilbers was similar, although it wasn't originally ordered by me. 

 

If the Wilbers would be stiffer I'd see it as natural, since the Nitron was definately ordered for one-up road use (= no track) and I ain't that big.

 

Could the different rear frame/linkage make a huge difference between MkI and 9'er ?

spyball alarm/immob, bluespot brake calipers and Stainless hoses, Fournales air adjustable shock with Remote Resevoir, forks raised 10mm thru yokes, racetech linear fork springs in 15 wt oil, Kappa wingrack/luggage, heated grips, Kedo handguards, dual heat controller to power heated jacket liner and or pants!!, Stebel 136DB horn, K&N air filter, colour matched Baglux tank cover (magnetic tank bag modified to fit cover), osram +50% headloight bulbs, headlight protector,"NitramSpecial" parking loight, tail light indicators all running on LED's & incorporate "Lite Buddies", MK7 Scottoiler fitted, taller screen, 2-2 stainless steel CCC's, Devil stainless down pipes. MKI Renntec engine crash bars & sump guard.
engine changed july 2007 on a dyno run it made 79.1BHP / Torque 59.9Had a brief flirtation with a 1999 MKIIa but it blew an exaust valve on the M5 so was sold on to be repaired.

I loike tay and hang sangwiches !

Yes I think it does, due to the multiplication of force through the linkage on the 900


900 with better bits. Owes me nothing, Makes me smile

I would say so - the spring rate of the direct monoshock is more than double the rising rate linkage setup. Not knocking a monoshock, direct setup but I don't think Yamaha got it quite right on the TDM compared to the Italian manufacturers.

 

 I just picked up on this thread today - Fournales rule! Never had a more comfortable ride down a mountain since I replaced my wooden leg with a Fournales  :pimp:

bit late to respond on this one but good choice! 

 

My TDM has a Nitron fitted, I have just completed a thousand miles round bonny scotland and cant rate it highly enough, especially when the roads got a bit rutted and uneven.

I reckon Celticbiker must have ditched the ol' balloon for something decent
