Will the 1996 carb fit somehow on the 1993?

Current carb needs needles and needles springs and are very difficult to impossible to find. Or any suggestions please?

Thanks!

Thanks! It's there any usual solution for carb replacements nowadays with this carbs? I just want to save this awesome bike. The needles are really expensive and the needle springs seems discontinued and sold out. I'm also looking for the rubber intake manifolds that connect the carbs to the head but can't find the part # on the catalog.

The Mikuni 38 BDST carb spares are available, Ducati also uses them. unfortunately carb spares tend to be expensive. could you not swop the springs, needles and jets from one carb to the other ? Good Luck with the fiddling.

Hi.  Are you in the UK ?

I think Wemoto sell the intake rubbers.  Yambits might also sell them and Kedo.de should also sell them along with carb parts.  NRP carbs sell carb parts too.

96 MK2 carbs will go straight on a 93 MK1.

MK2 have a connection for TPS which you wont be able to connect to,it doesnt matter.

MK2a carbs also fit but you will need the Mk2a rubbers from airbox to carb as they are bigger, also have TPS connection but again it doesnt matter.

I have done both to my own MK1 and it runs fine, currently It has MK2a carbs on,been on for ages now.

If you have to go and buy carbs, might be better looking to fix yours, you may end up buying a set of carbs which also need a refurb.

you can use 60mm silicone hose (ebay) to connect carbs to the air box with a little modification

FITTED MODIFIED CARB TO AIRBOX RUBBERS ON MY 850 3VD

got 75mm of 60mm silicone hose from ebay under£5

had to enlarge the holes in airbox a couple of mm

new 70 mm hose clips to hold them on the carbs

cut down the trumpets  and ground them down a bit with a coarse sanding disc

glued in place with hot glue gun then silicone

screwed the airbox back together popped in new air filter job done

Dellorto PHM38/PHM40, common fitment to Ducati, KTM, Husqvarna, Guzzi. Can be mounted at an angle of 40 degrees from horizontal.

Cheap secxond hand, new spares are plentiful and also cheap.

Some versions have accelerator pumps too :)

Here's a pair with pumps. You would need to make a throttle cable splitter for this type of design  https://www.ebay.co....9wAAOSwZZ5asnY3

A pair of PHF36's https://www.ebay.co....5.c100752.m1982

Just wondering now if there'd be enough room under the airbox for this sort of thing ?  Maybe not

Thanks for the suggestions! So I got the pair of used mk2 carbs for $200, to try to fit them on the mk1, o was able to find more rebuild parts for that one in case it needs something.
Will let you know once they arrive, for now will be looking for the inlet rubbers and the airbox solution.

The airbox will fit straight onto mk2 carbs.  It's the mk2a carbs that have larger inlets and thus require the airbox to go with them, or some modding of the existing one.

Those parts are fine but my problem is mainly finding the diaphragm springs, which are not on the kits

Their answer:

Hi Noel,
the spring diaphragms are no longer available from Yamaha.
The intake manifolds are a backorder from Yamaha, 2-3 weeks to get @ $88.00 ea.
The needle sets are $114.75ea and 2-3 days to get.
Cheers
Max
