Rear Light Lens

I managed to reverse my 900 into a water pump. You know, the cast iron ones with a long spout and a lever you have to actually pump up and down. The spout was exactly the same hight as my rear light. The spout had no problem at all to shatter the lens with only the slightest of touches. I have ordered a new lens.
Now then,
Can I just unclip the remains of the broken lens from the black housing and push-clip the new lens into place? Or best to remove the housing and fit the lens off the bike?
And yes, I tried the search and got the one about the LED rear light.
Thanks

IIRC the red lens is stuck to the reflector back with double-sided tape stuff to act as a water seal, so you will probably have to take the lamp unit off the bike to fix that neatly. There are two threads sticking out of the back of the unit with their nuts etc accessible under the tail fairing once the seat is off. That allows the unit to slide out to the rear.
That's what I remember from fitting a LED unit.

And look around for new tape I guess.

It uses a gasket and it clips onto the body. See here

Should be fine re-using the gasket.

I have a spare rear light unit you can have for the price of postage - or is it too late to cancel your order?
