My First Bike

I recently passed my full licence and bought a tdm 850 on a t plate.
I really like the seating position and the way these bikes work with the dry sump.
I have rode since I was a child off road and then onto a cbt but at 17 decided to give up after a car made me do a somersault on a roundabout and drove off. 15 years later, I found myself going back to university and hating traffic, so I had a 125cc herald for a year on a cbt which despite some bad reviews, was a brilliant commuter and never let me down.
So here I am after a year of cbt and passed my mod 2 in January. The tdm is great and I'm loving it for the run to uni or just for a blast.
I did fancy some ideas about tyres though, as I like to do a few trails. Could anybody advise me on some decent tyres for these? I have bridgestone battle axes on atm. I like the look of metzeler lasertec but opinions are always good from fellows tdm riders.
Regards
DP

Check the oil regularly, some 850's burn a bit of oil.

What Lee says. It's a bit of an art checking the oil, engine needs to be fully warmed up before doing the three handed, finely balanced, bent over, extreme yoga position. I found a small torch also helps to view the sight glass. Check it very frequently at first, once you get an idea of how much oil it uses you'll be good to go.

And so the oil needs to be warm in these before checking?
Tht is something I didn't know.
I'm assuming the bike must be vertical to check also like usual?
Will give it a check in the morning before I head out for the day.
Thanks for the advice and the link to tyres
I'll try and get some pics on if I do anything to her but for now she just has a Delkevic single can which I love

Gonna give it a check this morning and see where I'm at with it. Don't want to dry it out without knowing. Glad I was told about this 😂
