Just returned from a spirited and highly focused ride of 12 bikes, down through Germany. Austria, Slovenia into Croatia.
Weather was ghastly at times and included Autobahn stoppage due to to massive hailstones, as well as pretty regular rainstorms.
However the roads were brilliant, and wet riding is great if your gear is OK.We restricted autobahns to the need to get south quickly (one day) and same coming north. Rest was twisty and curvy, and little time for road pictures or sightseeing.
As ever, the German and Austrian tarmac was great, in contrast to some parts (not all ) Slovenia and Croatia where it was more challenging at times and we all had (one or more) slides.
A very experienced group meant a healthy (but safe) pace, needed for minimum-autobahn mileage, and consistent second-man system worked fine
Hotels generally booked 1 or 2 nights in advance, and we always managed to get mix of twins/triples/singles one way or another.
In total 2 overnights ferries (Hull-Zeebrugge return via Rotterdam) and 8 nights in hotels.11 days riding in total.
Here are some pictures and many more on my Facebook page ....
