Might be a stupid question!

 

As the 900 is a dry sump, is it still necessary to drain all the oil before a clutch change? I'm guessing it is and there some oil held in the housing.

I did mine with the oil in, just having the bike on the sidestand so the oil was held to the left of the sump was good enough

Cheers Gents, that sounds like a plan! Thanks for the reply. I presume there was nothing odd in there; Remove cover, Clean up gasket, remove bolts / springs, then replace oil with soaked pates?

Yup, just like they should be...I think the only thing to watch out for is re engaging the clutch release cam on the cover. The position of the clutch release lever which the cable attaches too should be noted and marked before you start, but look carefully because there may already be an arrow on it to indicate correct alignment with the cover
