I reckon the gearchange linkage on my Mk2 isn't set up correctly.

Should the adjusting rod be as near to 90 degrees to the linkage arm?

It would then (hopefully) make gearchanging as efficient as possible.

The photos show it as it was when I got the bike, I haven't ridden the bike as it was bought as a non-runner, so can't comment as to how the gearchange has been.

Haynes doesn't go into any detail.....

90 degrees would increase the amount of movement on the pedal, and allow you to put a bit extra force on it if that were ever required, but as it doesn't need much force the efficiency doesn't really matter does it?

 

I've got lowered pegs on my 900 so dropped it down by 1 spline to have the pedal lower.

Haynes manuel, page 6.5 photo 3.15a Pete.  It's correct but might need moving a spline or two so's the punch mark lines up with the clamp slit.

You mean the punch mark opposite the clamp slit? Otherwise I'll end up with 1 up and 4 down methinks....

 That's the badger.  You might then need to adjust the rod for best lever position.

Yep, that's the one. Definitely the air box breather, but blocked at the end where it exits near the chain.

No, I can't fathom it out. The toob comes from the airbox, continues via the inline filter, then ends low down on the left side, where it has a 'bung' fitted! Not sure what it's meant to do like this?

Oil drain for the airbox !! could be, maybe, dunno, why it's got a filter on though, why would ya need one, some other bikes have em..

I'm guessing he mighta used the filter to join the two pipes together ?  Shouldn't have a bung in it though and it should be routed inside the frame.

thought they all hadda bung fitted as standard with a recommendation in the owners handbook stating the bung shud be removed every now and den to drain off any oil ?

That's a possibility, I haven't got an original handbook.....If anyone has one, perhaps they could ave a look and post here....Ta!

Just going off the pipe on my bike which doesn't have a bung.  Will have a look at the owners manual.

mines got a bung, no oil as its bone dry.

 

I suppose it could suck unfiltered air into the box as it bypasses the filter
