checkout travelex, online not branches, but make sure there's a location you can collect from (I've used them when flying and they're in all airports) - just looking online it's 1.0977 - £1

Having a French partner we do a lot of travelling in France visiting family etc & have found that using your debit card rather than changing cash generally works out cheaper

Because i live so close to the border i got a great exchange rate £1==€1.145

Well for those in reach of London anyway, the best place I've found for all currencies is the bottom of Edgware road, where, in between every Kebab house, lies a bureau de change. The competition usually means they give better deals than banks or mainstream currency dealers. I've had some very good deals from the Arabs.
