I've nearly finished route planning my May/June trip to France, Belgium and Holland on my TomTom Europe. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for waterproof maps in case the Tom Tom failed. I have seen these http://www.mapsman.c...duct.php?id=634

but I know plenty of people on here with more touring experience than me so any advice would be happily received. Staying in Northern France then across to Ardennes and up into Sothern Holland to see family.

The Lidl's maps are the one to go for.  There was/is a set of 16 maps that cover europe. Might be worth trying the German Lidl website?

Not seen the Lidl/aldi ones in years.  JHT managed to track down some sets of the German maps a few years ago, but I've not seen any others.  Shame as they're really good.

I already have Google maps on my phone for back up. I was thinking more of the printed version.

I have heard great reports on Lidl's maps but despite research and a visit to the German website can't find any.

That was my first choice but tracking any down is near on impossible.

I think JHT got them from a German bike shop, but buggered if I can remember which one!

Maybe I've watched too many Zombie movies but I don't like to just rely on TomTom for my map reading.

Lois.de I think, looks like they now cover the alps as well as germany

https://www.louis.de...0?list=58450287

Pretty sure my set are only Germany without the alps addon.  Could be worth a group buy if anyone thinking of an alps trip in the near future.

I bought a complete set of German maps last year when I was working in Munich. I can't remember if the Alps are included but will check tonight.

I'm looking at ordering a set - the postage is the same price as the map set at 9.95 euros so I think a group buy might be a good idea. I'm happy to organise if anyone is interested

I love those Lidl maps. Only got the GB and Eire ones though. Found them in a skip and rescued the darlings.

The ones in the link don't seem to cover the Italian side of the alps. Only border regions. Many good passes won't be on there.

The set I have has 16 maps and covers the whole of Germany plus the Alpine countries. This includes the whole of Austria and Switzerland plus part of Italy.
The Shell garages in Germany also sell specialist biker maps. This is the one I got for the Monschau region (Eifel).

On the 2nd day we're going across from France into Belgium and through the Ardennes region then up through Monschau region into Holland. Its about 240 Miles of lovely looking twisty roads with some nice Cafe stops on the way.
