Put threaded inserts in fuel tap. Cheapo ones, worked well. Think that's the softest metal I ever drilled...which was good as I could do it holding it with one hand and lines attached

Which kind have you used Bjorge ! i made a couple of spacers for mine and loctite but i think an insert would do the job better.

Yup, same kit (I have the £60 version Bjørge referred to). They don't ship to Norway, unfortunately. And if they did, P&P plus tax would triple the price. One of the consequences of not being part of the EU ...

~600 miles covered this weekend  :P

Bike runs good, suspension is delicious but it is a bit thirsty . 53MPG as opposed to 58-65 previously (non-motorway speeds - 60-100 kph).

It seems like there is no gain in mileage from driving calmly, which I have never experienced from a vehicle...

The engine has made 115,000kms, but it runs nicely - I just can't believe the problem is related to poor compression from worn cylinders, pistons or leaky valves.

I overhauled carbs because of an increasing consumption a few years ago. I'm not positive it has ever returned to "normal" (for my driving style, that is) consumption, although I have believed so a couple of times. I have now started to fill gas with bike on main stand, as this seems to result in more concequent filling level. I suspect previous readings were abit accidential.

What's on my list to figure out, then, is:

- Fuel level. Not sure if they're right. New check needed.

- Emulsion tubes. They're Factory pro, and I believe they're like 20,000kms old. I have a new set of brass ones, could swap them and check.

- Choke mechanism (new plungers installed). I added a spring to retract choke once you let the knob go, as it wouldn't return properly due to a worn slider. I have checked it time and again, and it seems to return properly now.

...yes, and fork seals are shot, but that's okay as they're ~12 years old.

The right side is if not maintained, suspected that the left side is kept un-siezed from chain lube fling.

Mopped up the oil from inside the grey connector block and connection on the regulator/rectifier. Looks like it's been seeping up from the engine through the inside of one or more of the three cables in the bunch (wtf?!).

It's new to me, so it was enjoyable to take all the bits off and get friendly with it.

The wheels are sh1t, and that's right, they have to be shinned up too.  Can't wait!

Identifed a potential rust problem. Whilst poking about I saw what looked like rust on the metal pipe connecting the water pump to the elbow on the cylinder head. Poking a small mirror in shows definite corrosion on the side facing the engine.
I thought oh I'll just replace that then. Nearly £12 at Fowlers plus O rings for a bit of squashed steel ! And on back order no stock.
Looking through my box of bits I got an old one more corroded than mine so measured up and made myself one in 316.

I also spotted rust last time I strip serviced my bike. Behind the rad on top of TDM 900. Treated with Kurust and a dollop of Hammerite.

The head of my RH adjuster snapped off while trying to remove it. I thought if it's seized it can stay in, and a slipped one of these over the top of it, and now it's a stud adjuster :) https://www.ebay.co....67304ab59f3c905

MOT today! No bother at all.
Afterwards a run down to the Lighthouse on the Mull of Galloway. A friend recommended it and it did not disappoint. Stunning. Good cake as well.
