I’ve just fitted some Gilles engine protectors. The Fitting instructions meant fixing to the right/left Top engine mount fixings. Is this normal ? Would have thought using frame fixing.

It's normal on any variety of Tdm as no fixing points on the frame at all.

I have become wary of fixing to the frame for fear of damage to it. I have a Honda Rebel but all protection that is any good fixes to the frame.

I sheared my engine mount threads when i had an off in France way back when, Lee heli-coiled them and they were good as new afterwards, so it's possible to damage them but i think better than the alternative with a bust engine..
