I'm thinking of stuff like:
- Hi Viz?
- Can I use a dark visor?
- Do i need International identifier (IRL stickers or whatever)?
Thanks
APW
Have you ever lent someone 20 quid and never seen it again? It was probably worth it.

DON'T just buy medical cover - most WILL NOT cover travel by motorcycle. Buy specific cover for you to travel on your own bike as some only cover up to 125 cc and then only if hired.
EHIC (was E111) available from HMG online, takes about a week
Practice left turns in your head, cos they is the ones wot gets you dead.
I also take
Passport
Spare bulbs
spare wallet for interesting encounters
swiss knife
First aid kit
Warning triangle
GB (or whatever) sticker
Money
Credit card(s)
Breakdown insurance
Oil in 250 ml bottles & filler spout
plastic tube (petrol syphoning)
Spare keys
Tools (your choice)
map (cos most garages don't have those enamel Michelin maps on the wall anymore)
cheapo helmet /cycle cable locks cos they keep honest folk honest (never had owt stolen unless you count both wheels from my mates Z1R - not our best breakfast)
palm size multimeter - only if you know how to use it? (I had rectifier die near Dijon)
OKO/Slime in tyres
Spare levers (always under the seat)
clutch & throttle cables (had both snap)
35mm film canister with wet sponge for visor cleaning
Torch
AND if you don't speeka da lingo get a phrase book or try single serving dot com
a more comprehensive list is available on request
Happy motoring

Its worth checking your EHIC (was E111) cards as they only last 5 years, just had to renew mine (didn't realise they were time bound)

Which seems a bit quick if you can't see beyond the end of your nose!
You may need to take a little care, a mate was stopped in some small town by the cops. They pointed at a sign he couldn't read and explained in German what he'd done wrong. One on the spot fine, which was explained in English, and he was poor but none the wiser.
I'm off to Germany in June. I've been before without travel insurance but it is worth getting as your EHIC seemingly only overs you once your at the hospital, not getting there and not if you need to get home. It should also cover recovery of the bike if you do yourself a mischief that means you can't ride. I'll pack my reg document and a copy of the Insurance doc that confirms European cover. You might want to put a bit of black tape on the dipped beam but most don't bother - the headlights not that good!
All Brit's are required to sign an agreement to 'not mention the war' at the border. So we won't be whistling the 'Dambusters March' at the Eidersee or Mohnesee dams, nor will we be humming the 'Great Escape' when staying at Schloss Colditz. Ahem

As for EHIC cards & insurance - the EHIC only covers 80% or so of your treatment - so make sure you have got insurance cover
I just got a bill this morning from the French hospital that treated me - 58 euros - that was for X-rays & plaster cast for me busted ankle
I'm going to forward it on to my insurance for payment - but just imagine what it would be for a couple of days in hospital & an operation
