Hi folks.
Yesterday Chris had his send-off at the crematorium in Cork city to wherever it is that we all end up. Carpe was well represented with Alan, Stu, Paddy and myself. It is always hard to celebrate a life when the person has had such a profound impact on so many and leaves us with such a sense of loss. Chris left us very quickly in the end and I don't think he got to read the posts from you all, but knowing him I am sure he felt the love we all have for him. When things calm down a little I will print them out and give them to Syra as a memento. I had the absolute honor of becoming a close friend to Chris over the last 11 years and was asked to help carry his coffin, I can't recall a greater privilege. My tears are drying a little less each day but the gifts of self-belief, compassion and non-judgement I got from Chris will stay with me forever.
Thank you all,
Alex.
Have you ever lent someone 20 quid and never seen it again? It was probably worth it.

Thank Alex, great words for a great man. It was good to know there was a good turnout from the Carpe boys too, sorry that I couldn't make it myself. Do you happen to know if Syra had requested any donations in memory of Chris? And will Chris's ashes be interred or scattered anywhere special to him? I'd like to pay my respects next time I'm in Ireland.

Hi Matlock. There was no mention of any donations at the service so I don't believe that was requested. I have not had the heart to ask about the ashes just yet. I believe it takes a few weeks before the ashes become available from recollection of previous services. I hope to be in Kerry in two weeks and will certainly go by and visit Syra so I will find out her plans at that time and I'll let you know.
Thanks,
Alex.

Funny that as i had some good advice from Chris many years ago (bout 12 i guess) as he'd had a crap time working for an American Company based in Ireland so he jacked it in and did his own ting with the guitars instead. I jacked in my job and now do me own ting and i'm me own boss etc so he dished out some good advice which certainly helped a few people along the way. he was taken too young, RIP Chris.
