Some of you elder statesmen may remember Les Craib, "The Mannie" from some of the Scottish G2Gs

 

Les had a 960 TDM with a TTS tuned engine which he frequently blew up and has now created his LC900 RR. Something different!Attached File  Les LC900.jpg   272.7KB   0 downloads

Mk2a 2000 in Silver. Top end Refurb @ 41100 miles, Scottoiler, Renthal Road High Bars, Up & Back Bar Risers, Bellypan, DL650 Handguards, Capt. yep i did. DVLA say it's a 2004 boike and 897cc,  plus the Youtube description states MT09 enjun in a TDM 900 frame.  What was his reasoning behind this incarnation Alan? He sported a fine set of braces on his leathers when i met him mannie years ago.


spyball alarm/immob, bluespot brake calipers and Stainless hoses, Fournales air adjustable shock with Remote Resevoir, forks raised 10mm thru yokes, racetech linear fork springs in 15 wt oil, Kappa wingrack/luggage, heated grips, Kedo handguards, dual heat controller to power heated jacket liner and or pants!!, Stebel 136DB horn, K&N air filter, colour matched Baglux tank cover (magnetic tank bag modified to fit cover), osram +50% headloight bulbs, headlight protector,"NitramSpecial" parking loight, tail light indicators all running on LED's & incorporate "Lite Buddies", MK7 Scottoiler fitted, taller screen, 2-2 stainless steel CCC's, Devil stainless down pipes. MKI Renntec engine crash bars & sump guard.
engine changed july 2007 on a dyno run it made 79.1BHP / Torque 59.9Had a brief flirtation with a 1999 MKIIa but it blew an exaust valve on the M5 so was sold on to be repaired.

I loike tay and hang sangwiches !

The bike is actually ex Gazman (Garry Sibbet) although that only came to light when I recognised the number plate having ridden to an RTT with Garry.

 

The 960 engine suffered a detonation problem and ate 2 pistons. Les had bought an ex trackday MT09 but didn't like it's level of comfort compared to his 900 - so he swapped the engine over and fitted the MT front end! He was a bit pissed off when I mentioned that Coxxylaaaaaad had done the same with his TRX and beaten him to it  :lol:

 

I've yet to see the creation but hope to get up to the wonderful Grampian mountain roads to give it a go later this month.

Serious fettlin skills there eh. :good:  Should be a lot more reliable with the MT09 engine too. :)

@Alan Heccles, I too thought i recognised that registration number,  but thought i was jive thinking!   Wonder how Gaz is these daze?!

 

I wonder if Les had ta modify the TDM frame to accept the MT lump in any way?  I assumed being a triple she'd be a bit wider and a toighter fit (loike Big Burd).  Ya hafta laugh at 'The Legend' livery on the side panels.

 

Has Lesmond stihl got the 960 TTS lump in his early TDM900 or did he give up after the cam chain tensioner failed and it then ate 2 pissedons?

No, it shat the pistons just last year after a rebuild - never really got down to the bottom of it. It really went like stink but there was a sensor problem and detonation got the better of it

 

A bit of cutting, hacking and filing involved i believe but the MT lump is lighter
