Quoted with 5yrs ncb, clean licence, 10000+ anual milage, alarm, 35yr old engineer, kept on road and living in a rural area.

Many times I hear CN is "far too expensive" but they throw in legal cover, roadside assistence and recovery (abroad as well). On top of that they've proven me more than once to be really helpful and quick. As long as CN is only a few tank-full loads more expensive per year (I pay 170 quid for three bikes 3rd party & theft) I can't be bothered to look around.

However , when I changed from an 850 to a 900 it wasn't so good. Twenty something quid extra for the 900, probably a higher insurance group, and more expensive than the 850, to run from October to March ( could just about live with that) : a few quid vat, (ok, Gordon, or whoever it is now, wants his slice of the action) : and 30 quid admin charge , robbing bar stewards!
So it may be a fair initial quote, but watch for the hidden extras - talk about 'stealth tax'
Don't need no oil drums no more.
