I need a new top box big enough to take 1 helmet & some extra bits. The Kappa k42 looks like the sort of size that would suit, has anyone got any experience with this or a similiar sized box they would recommend.

I've a Givi 52 litre TB on my 9er which doesn't cause any problems even when loaded.

Givi E450 Simply - about £85 delivered from EBay sellers includes the givi plate that bolts directly onto the rear handles.

Fits 2 fullface if you need too, or enough gear for a European weekend, has an option for a pillion backrest (£25ish) and to my eyes doesn't look too big and cumbersome when fitted.

I've just bought one of these from fleabay
topbox link

I didn't want anything too wide, and like you just wanted room for one full face with a little bit here and there. Its a perfect size for me and has a quick release mechanism.

Quality is reasonable, and considering its only £30 its pretty good value for money.

Kappa 42 will do the trick. Got one on mine and it previously did service on the GS (so it's now about 5 year old). The plate will fix straight to the existing 900 rack. It will easily take a full face lid and still leave enough space for other waterproofs, etc. Good, cheap, secure and they don't leak.

Just out of interest, does a Kappa box fit a givi monolock rack for an 850?

This just the kind of post that does me in!

Yes I want a top box for an 850. So I start with this thread which is someone with a loverly red 850, just like mine.

He makes a suggestion, lots of you (loverly loverly) people make suggestions, so far as I can make out for 900s.

until the last post which seems to be written in Greek.

I want to put one full face helmet plus a change of clothes in a top box on a 4tx 850 and drill few or no holes in my bike.

Is there room for a freeloader on this thread and one that has never interfered with his bikes back end before who is too tired to read the whole of the www?

Bless you all, Epirb.
It went E,S,E,S,A

.......and, rather than start a new thread, can I also ask if anyone knows if it's ok to fit a Givi topbox directly onto the rear seat handle of the TDM 900 using a universal plate fixing? Will the rear handle assembly take the weight of a loaded topbox?

I'm thinking about this one http://cgi.ebay.co.u...1742.m153.l1262

cheers

Dan

Hello epirb, you can find either givi or kappa top case for your tdm without having to drill any holes to the frame, there is an after market base that fits preexisting holes on the frame. i think that you can find it easily on ebay. i got one from a local store for mine as you can see here ,
I think it is 42lt and it can hold a full face helmet and a jet one. Also if you are having any trouble with greek, let me know, i can help with the translation.

i use a Kappa 35ltr box on the ER5, it is big enough for one helmet and small stuff like gloves, waterproofs, maps, but will struggle if you want to dump your riding jacket in there as well.

It is ideal for day runs but too small for touring.

No complaints about manufacture, is as good after 3 years use as when fitted.

Cheers Fruity, that the one, it comes with a base plate and bolts straight onto the original grab rail/plate so no need for drilling etc.
It can hold 2 full face lids. I use it to carry a laptop (and case) on many occasions.

Still going cross eyed here!

Problem is lack of time and personal PC access during hours that I am more awake!

How about these as a pair? http://www.wemoto.com/ (special offer) and http://shop.wemoto.c...34084qqq5828561

I think I have found out that Kappa are now Givi?

I am told some are double skined some single?

I asked my local dealers (Orwells) what they reccommended, their total price was £280-00

I have bought motorcycles for less than £280-00.

Link me sinple and straight guys, all I want to stow is my lid and rain suit, Thanks, Epirb.
It went E,S,E,S,A

Finally went for the Givi E370, which is 39 litres, treated the bike to the matching silver cover and stop light kit. Purchased it from DK motorcycles. Helmet fits OK plus space for waterproofs etc.
All I need now is the bike (should arrive Fri or Sat). The two weeks since I sold my 850 seem like 6months dunno.gif

i've got the the givi E52 model i think now its the second largest they do (theres a 55L one now). its a great box with loads of space and an added bonus is that you can put a set of rear brake LED's in them. I havent got them yet but are on the wish list as is the top rack and back rest to suit wink.gif they are a tad expensive though at around the £200 mark for a basic one sad.gif

oppps sorry for the late post lol smile.gif
