Did the valve clearances, 24,000 service, new spark plugs (iridium) k&N filter.

Started it up and it purrs !!!!!

Looked down water pissing everywhere.

The coolant pipe on the top of the head, was a bastard to get it, when I took it apart, I had pushed the o-ring down the hole !!

Got a wire and fished it out, it looks ok , but I want to replace it to be sure.

Part is http://www.manualsli...?page=15#manual  24  Prt No 93210−18417

But where the feck do you get them from, every google search ends up in the states. on another site I found this they where buying them from DIY shops at a fraction of the cost ......

The ones I came up with are #14 O-ring (15/16" OD x 3/4" ID x 3/32") equivalent to p/n 93210-18417-00

So, where can I get one ??????

cheers, Ivan

Fowlers in Bristol will post you the right one seeing as you already know the part number

http://www.fowlers.co.uk/parts/

Alternatively Halfords or most motor factors usually sell packs of multiple sizes which should cover it for similar money to one genuine yamaha one.

1992 Mk1, 76k miles, Hagon springs, MTC exhaust, 4½ gears Gone now :(
2009 900 abs, 42k miles, Yamaha heated grips, double bubble screen, R&G crash bungs, scottoiler, Autocom, 1500 lumen LED spotlights.

Thanks Chris,

Mr Henity suggested Fowlers but when I looked I could not find a page for TDM.

Will ring them tomorrow.

Cheers, Ivan

19mm inner hole and 2.5mm section o ring should do it. The should be about 24 mm on the outside.

You order 'o' rings by the inner hole dia x the section.

Here's a question.

Do you put the ring in the hole first or do you slide it onto the tube and then put the whole assembly in?

Put it over the tube with a little silicone grease to help it in.

:wifgeni:  Wiggle the pipe in a circular direction as you press down on it and you should hear it plop in.  Make sure you remove all the crap in the hole afore you do. :)

Bought 2 from Fowlers this morning, got a spare just in case.

Went round a few places this morning before I ordered it and no-one could match the size, but they gave me a few free just to try. I now have 15 o-rings that dont fit ......

Fowlers £1.87 each + VAT+ postage £8.50 !!!!!

Should get them wedensday.

Cheers, Ivan

I didn't bother with a Yamaha branded one, but just used a new one I happened to have around.

As mentioned make sure all the crap and crud is carefully cleaned away and use a bit of silicone gasket cement and the job should be a good 'un.

To get a good seal just remember three little words ..... CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN.

And two more - Good luck.

Riggers.

my sizes are about 0.1mm bigger in section, so gives a good tight fit. It will need lube to slide it in there. The sort of silicone grease used for sewage pipes is good.

The tube and groove must be absolutely clean. Use plenty of lube like this. It's blue, so you won't get it mixed up with your other 'lubes'
