To save cluttering up the meetup thread...

QUOTE(Saga Lout @ Sun 5th Dec 2010, 04:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
After an intense strategy meeting at Catsbum's joint, which involved eating bacon rolls and cake, plus much talking of inane drivel, we've come up with a plan which involves a long trip out to the MT and a dash back with everyone else on the Sunday. (Note to everyone: Cats is a very good cooker of bacon and egg rolls munching_out.gif )

Leaving on Thursday 16th June from Portsmouth to LeHarve (or Caen), ride across France to Italy making sure we keep south of Switzerland so Tony doesn't spend the rest of the trip in a Swiss jail, riding up through the Aosta mountains in Italy, riding the Stelvio pass, riding another pass which I cant remember the name of, head north to Munich, make a visit to Dachau concentration camp and then arrive at the MT on Thursday 23rd. And before any wag says thats a long ride without stopping, we will obviously camp or B&B along the way tongue.gif

Ali G, Cats and me plan to catch the 13.50 Eurostar home on the 28th and Tony D will probably tour the war graves in Belgium. JHT and Chris G will also hopefully be able to join us all at some point but need to confirm their plans. Any others interested in joining us are obviously more than welcome.

The current ferry options are Brittany ferries Portsmouth to Caen: depart 08.15 arrive 15.00 - £80.00 or LD Lines Portsmouth LeHarve: depart 23.00 and arrive following morning - £58.00 including reserved seat.

Hmmm, our lot have an exercise on 20-june to 1 july, hopefuly I've I've got my name down early enough to get the time off, waiting to hear back from the boss.

Steve/Ali/Martin/Tony/whoeverelseiscomming are you thinking B&Bs or are you planning to camp it up (well we are all on 900s now)? Camping would be my preference. Have you all booked yourselves in at the Megatreff? I've not booked anything yet so makes sense to see what others are doing.

1992 Mk1, 76k miles, Hagon springs, MTC exhaust, 4½ gears Gone now :(
2009 900 abs, 42k miles, Yamaha heated grips, double bubble screen, R&G crash bungs, scottoiler, Autocom, 1500 lumen LED spotlights.

Chris

We are all booked in for the Megatreff.

Tony n I are taking tents, but as I said to Tony I want to do B&B and have a feeling of normal now and then.

Hope you can make it, RTT would'nt be right without your booming voice across the beer table giveusahug.gif

My boss spent all day in meetings so I still haven't managed to get an answer out of him. We just lost a bid that would have seen me working over seas for several months so that should free up some of my time.

I'm keeping an eye on a pair of E21s on e-bay, so hopefully I can pack a bit lighter than usual biggrin.gif I may need to swap to a bigger espresso machine though if there's several of us, and can we ensure Tony and Saga "my mrs wears earplugs" Lout camp on the opposite side of the site to the rest of us rolleyes.gif rotflmmfao.gif

Dave

Hi Dave, hope you can join us on the long trip out good.gif

Cats, I reckon we should either aim to catch the 08.15 ferry on the 26th or catch the LD Lines boat at 23.00 on the 25th, which would actually give us a few more hours head start on our journey and is cheaper, this is my preference but I will fit in with the majority hm.gif

R u happy with just a reclining seat or do u want a cabin at extra cost. I had just a seat on the Plymouth to Santander route and found that to be fine?

I can't make the early trip, I'm afraid. Can't get the extra days. Was even thinking that if I could get Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st off, I could leave on Friday night and blast through France, Germany and Austria/Switzerland and meet you at Stelvio on Sunday night but it's a no go. Will have to settle for the MT11 only.

Don't change the dates on me now, I'm still waiting to hear if I can get the 16th-23rd off. rolleyes.gif Though a 23:00 ferry from Portsmouth wouldn't be a problem for me on a work day.
