Following a successful fettle of Dmmsta's Niner today, I was handed a large box and asked to take it home with me.

Suei and myself would like to pass on our heartfelt thanks to those on carpe-tdm who were involved in putting the box together.

She assures me the cake tin will be filled with cake of a suitable quality and brought to the next fettle day for 'testing'. She  wishes me to say also, that she had the greatest laugh of this Christmas as they are 'Hairy Biker' tin.

For myself, I would just like to say that it's been an honour and a great pleasure to have shared the fettle days with all you good fellows fettling TDM's with the odd BMW (sorry Ivan) thrown in.

I have found such great comradeship here, we all help each other to the common good.

We have something that is quite rare these days, so Long may it continue.

My thanks to you all.

Lee H

P.S.

I've named the camera 'Carpe Cam' and I'll be making some video how to's later in the year.

First off many thanks for another visit to help me out (and pass on a little more knowledge...if nothing else I now know there is a 20 gauge shot gun!)

It shows what sort of a forum/group we have here!

I hope you enjoy the pressie, and look forward to some vid's in the future.

You've helped me and a fair few others out at a moments notice Lee and I'm just glad we could find a way to show our gratitude.

I look forward to some fettling  'how' videos from you now then :) Though most of your mechanical explanations just get lost in the ether when you've tried to explain things to me before, maybe a video will help some of it stick.

Just one way we can show you the appreciation of what you do for ALL of us Lee. You refuse to take proper money asking only for what bits cost. Not including time taken to actually manufacture the things. You have helped out so many of us at the drop of a hat, travelling long distances to do so. You have sorted me out odd bolts and even manufactured said things in between me calling and me arriving at Casa De Henty an hour later. No questions asked!!

You sir are one of the rarest people out there. Someone who will (and hopefully continue to) help ANYONE who asks. Even BMW riders!! And not forgetting the ever so patient wife who puts up with us dropping in and taking up your time too. She's a diamond!!

THANKYOU!!

It's not that I don't like the BMW, it's just that it's marketed as a premium supposedly top quality bike, so why don't they fit premium top quality fasteners.

The bike looks ok but is let down by rapid rust screws and bolts that seem to be very soft. Given the age/cost of the bike and that Matt does look after it, it's not really on for BMW to be cheaping out on fasteners and charging so much money for the bike when they market it as a go anywhere bike where it will get wet.

I'll admit that rusty screws do tend draw my eye and can cause me to   so this opinion is my own and slightly biased.  :)

The problem with BMW, Lee, is the age old one - successful quality brand expands production - then gets ruled by accountants - who don't give  feck about quality - just how much profit they can squeeze out of every unit - so it's off to China to get the components made out of cheese whenever they can.

Going to get worse in the future as well - my local dealer tells me that next years sales targets are up by 25% & they also want 50% more workshop time ( which tells it's own story )
