Wow, what a great job!! you have some talant there, can I ask can you draw well ie pen and paper as I would love to have a go at this but I am crap at drawing. is it one of those things you have to have a start in or can it all be done with stencils.

If you fancy doing my bike you are more than.......... rolleyes.gif

Steve,

I created a stencil for the blues brothers, however the flame have been created using freehand and french curves, its taken me about a couple of week to get the flames looking correct.

Give it a go, just practice and patience is all you need, beside the airbrush kit. One of the projects I am most proud of is my nephews guitar plus mountain bike forks.

using water based paints mean you can wash off and start again. I recon the lid has cst approx £25ish in paint and about 4 hours of my time. I guess another hour and it will be finished.

Steve, thats my plan, to get a website set up and start selling stuff, so far I am generating interest with family and friends hopefully word will get out soon.

this is the one I got : AB-AS-06 Complete Airbrushing Kit & Compressor from here http://www.everythin...ial_Offers.html

have a think what you would like on the bike I will come up with some concept. but at this stage we will keep it as a concept. cause I am always thinking what to spray, most people want skulls or flames.

I got another couple of old lids to practice on, perhaps I will place your idea on the back of one of them. or put it on the spare RH fairing for a MKII I got in the attic/studio, the place SWMBO sends my to spray out of her way.

please please tell me you didnt use aerosol laquer on that , the design is great and i love airbrushing but you realy have to use a proper 2 pack laquer and getting it wet enough so it doesent need polishing yet not getting runs is as much of an art as the design .The pics show the laquer as quite dry and when you try to polish it there is a chance of going through the laquer . please dont take this as a dig at your work as its great , just constructive criticism as its my trade and the laquer side of things can ruin a great job
i love the forks and flames , could you post a picture of what you used for the fench curves

Look away Jamjar,

I used aerosol clear coat, the only airbrush I got at the moment is a pen style, I need to get a spray gun with a gravity fed hopper but as I am starting out, I have a airpump which pushed out 40psi. so in time

Don't worry about the critisism, it all helps.

some french curves

another french curve

JamJar, just thinking about the appearance in the photos could be down to the FM lid, it had a matt textured surface on it. best way to describe the finish is like a rubber coating.

careful now JamJar, I might hold you to that, your only a couple of hour away.... laugh.gif I have to modify my bro (mikey B) TDM9, side panels, slight scratch on LHS, toying with the Yamaha Strip, following the crease along the panel, tapering to a point. as the panels are black, thinking of ghosting the stripe in blue covered with transparent black over it. so when the light catches it you will see the stripes.

simple but effective
