Has anyone installed one? Dynojet has a kit for the MK1 but I haven’t heard any reports.
Having trouble fitting the air box on proper and would like to junk it for K&N filter set up.
MK1 850. Sonic, Hagon, Yosh, Factory
Blue Spot's, SS lines, Sergeant. Whats next?

Just my opinion on jet kits. My 92 bought second hand with a yoshimiro pipe, Factory pro jet kit and K&n air filter. 44,000 miles later the only after market parts left are the airfilter and factory pro power tubes.
Every thing else returned to stock.
It always felt a little weak at about 3000 rpm under part throttle, I tried all types of jet and needle positions which can move the feeling around into different rpm ranges but always there. The skinny needles were always ovaling out the tubes they slide in, requiring replacement at 5000 to 20000 miles depending on using stock or the nickle plated ones. Finally I put the stock needles back in and what a change. Instantly more tractable and the transition when it comes on the main jet is flawless. Just sop but if it has lost any top end it more than made up for it with bottom an midrange.
Currently I still have the K&N filter in the stock air box, #140 main jet, 3 turns out on pilot jet, Factory pro nickle plated main jet tubes and the stock needles. with a metal washer and a plastic one, under the clip..

Yes the needles were Factory pro, they are made of stainless steel and much harder than the brass stock main jet tubes. The kit comes with nickle plated tubes and will last longer. Just the design of the carbs lead to ovaling out as the needles are laying horizontal in the tubes and as they pull out they are free to move around in the tube.
While on the subject I think the vacuum fuel pump on these early models is marginal. If the bike sits for long periods or even under some wind conditions the pump will actually loose its prime and you "run out of gas" I replaced mine with the r6 electric pump and it seemed to actually make it run smoother leading me to believe that the vacuum pump was not supplying adequate gas flow.
