Just dropped in to flag up that "Megatreff 2010" is in prospect, from June 2nd to 6th next year. Back to the countryside after the Berlin area this year - to Dahn in the "Pfaelzer Wald". Nice part of the world, with a local dialect which will take revenge on the Aberdonians! laugh.gif No doubt Hanno or one of the others will be around soon as a contact for anyone wanting to attend.

Just to bring this back into attention:

As every year, we are having our own annual meeting around May/June time.
This year, it is during June 2nd till June 6th 2010 in Dahn in western Germany. (I think they do have cakes there as well unsure.gif)

For more information (in German), please read here: http://www.mt10.tdm-forum.net

Otherwise just send me a message and I will relay questions, informations and other demands.

Best regards from the "continent",
Lars

I'd love to be joining you but unfortunately can't but, as Tony said, you will be warmly welcomed and get to ride some great roads. However, I will be going to the European meet next year and hopefully so will several others from the UK. Enjoy and ride safely good.gif

Hello all

I made it back ok.

Had a really good time & recommend it highly. There are some wonderful areas to travel through. The area around the meeting site was really nice, and I quite liked the roads along the eastern border of Luxemborg.

The German TDM crowd are a great lot and treated me very well. Especially considering that I speak no German at all. The food was good typical continental fare and the steak from the BBQ on the Saturday night was one of the best I have ever had. (but no cake, but I did get some proper Belgium Chocolates on the way back). The Beer went down very well in the evening. Watch out for the Belgium brews as the jump in strengths caught me out on the last night in Namur.

I won a prize for greatest distance traveled to get to the meeting.

I stayed in two youth hostels on the way back as the weather was on the turn and didn't want to have to deal with a wet tent (I even had to suffer with a hailstorm just south of Gent on the last day.)

The TDM didn't miss a beat the whole time. I'm still working out the millage but it looks about 1500 miles. Oil usage was under a litre.

The bike was a bit top heavy with all my kit on the back (which I will reduce next time and pack better). Switchbacks on a steep cobbled roads are a less than pleasant sensation. Didn't drop it once but made a bit of an exhibition of myself in one village in Luxemborg. The village square was full of people sitting having drinks when I first caught my horn with my tank bag. Then once on the high street, with everyones attention, I nearly dropped it on one side , just saved it, then nearly went over the other way, ended up blocking the traffic in both directions as I wobbled off. Slow speed manovering got easier with practice

On the highways the bike would exhibit a slight wobble @ 95+. I had forgotten to change the spring setting before I left and clicking it over to the hard setting defiantly pushed the limit higher. Side winds were a pain but I think I have quite a bad screen for this so I'll do some trials with vents to reduce the low pressure region.

Need to do something about the seat when dealing with high mileage days.

Still sorting out the photos and a map

Ran into several groups of Brit bikers around and a number were thinking that a move away from a sport bike to something a bit more practical might be a good idea for next year (like a TDM perhaps)
